The Champagne is all done, the party favors are boxed up, and many are still hungover, but welcome to 2018! While we look forward to another year filled with new developments, we have a few predictions we want to put out there. We aren’t Nostradamus, but let’s see if the stars are aligned in Entertainment.

1. Chronixx wins the “Best Reggae Album” Grammy
With the 60th Grammy Awards coming up later this month, many Artists and viewers will be tuned in to see if their favourite will be carrying home a shiny prize. In Reggae music, we predict that the “Dread & Terrible” Artist, Chronixx, will carry home the award for “Best Reggae Album” for his project “Chronology”. This win will see him beating out fellow nominees like Damian Marley, Morgan’s Heritage, J Boog, and Common Kings! This would be a huge look for the Artist, and give the album even more attention. Maybe a Grammy tour as well? Let’s see.
2. Vybz Kartel will be successful in his Appeal hearing.
Since 2011, we’ve heard the phrase “Free Kartel!”, and it will not stop anytime soon. Vybz Kartel has more than a cult following, and it doesn’t help when he can still release songs while incarcerated. It was reported over the past couple years that his Defense team will file an appeal in the conviction of Kartel and 3 of his associates who are all serving life sentences. Despite numerous delays, it was reported that his hearing will be held in July 2018. If he wins, things might be shaken up a bit. Free Ninja Man too.
3. Buju Banton gets an early Summer release from Prison
Another Artist who many wish to see be as free as a bird, is the one they call “Gargamel”, Buju Banton! While it was reported that he will see a December 2018 release, we believe he can get out much earlier. A fresh from Prison Buju enjoying fresh air and some Summer heat in middle of Music Festival season? If he’s allowed to show his face at various events, his Christmas money will look very nice. Except Buju to headline many events upon his release too. Stay out of trouble Buju!
4. Shenseea signs to an International Label/Signs Intl. endorsement deal.
2017 saw buzzing Dancehall Artist Shenseea letting the ink dry on a few deals. From Pepsi, Flow, and Campari endorsements, 2018 might see Shenseea scoring an International music deal (maybe from Latin America or Europe), and signing more endorsement deals inside, and now outside the Caribbean. She has songs, but she also has the look so stay tuned.
5. More Female Artists making waves!
While this is nothing new, we believe 2018 will showcase a flurry of new Female acts, and a bigger buzz for those who have been making an impact in 2016 & 2017. We might let you in on a few you need to know soon. Stay tuned!
6. Tommy Lee Sparta will make a huge comeback…
There was a time when Tommy Lee Sparta was on an ever burning trail, releasing hit after hit. With his signature Gothic Dancehall style, he welcomed new listeners, and various critics. While he has been off the path for a while due to beef, and trouble with the law, we believe he’ll be back on his game when he releases new material this year including an EP. We’re fans of the Artist over here, but we want him back to topping charts, and making waves Internationally.
7. Masicka and Aidonia will finally clash…or bury the hatchet and make songs together.
Honestly, we’re tired of hearing these Artist send subliminal shots to one another. It’s full time they hit the stage and battle it out, or call it a day and make songs together. If Beenie Man and Bounty Killa could do it, why not these two? Even Vybz Kartel and Mavado…nevermind. These two are way too lyrical and should just clash it out, or promote unity. 4th Gennasyde?
