J Yungg has been making waves with his music, more recently with his new single titled “Sinners“. Ravers Magazine managed to catch the deejay for a quick Interview.
Raversmagazine.com presents the BB link with J-Yungg – Ajay Richards
Q1. For those that don’t already know you, tell us a little bit about yourself?
A. I was born and raised in Grange Hill, Westmoreland, Jamaica. I am the 2nd of 4 brothers. Attended the Grange Hill Primary and Little london High School.
Q2. How did you get onto the music scene?
A. I met Lincoln Thomas (guitarist for Shaggy, Beres Hammond, etc) who after introduced me to a young producer, now my close friend D-Mo. My work with D-Mo drew the attention of US based artiste/Producer Fudgie Springer and Lamar Clan… and the rest is history in the making.
Q3. Your latest track ‘Sinner’s Prayer’ is such a deep song – what influenced you to write and record it?
A. Well my music is always “REAL” in the sense that if it’s not what I am going through, it might be situations my friends are facing, but at the end of the day my music reflects my life… “SINNERS PRAYER” is no different.
Q4. With songs such as ‘Moving up’, ‘Mother’s Day’ and ‘Only break your heart’, how would you describe your musical style, and what would you say sets you aside from other reggae/dancehall artists?
A. Unorthodox… I tend to go against the grain a lot, not saying what others are saying but saying what I wanna say and not being afraid to express myself through my music… Being that I used to rap, my sound is slightly hip hop influenced and I listen to a bit of rock music too, combined with street knowledge, melodies, witty lyrics and delivery.
