One thing that can’t be denied, is that Reggae music can work wonders for you. From the young to the old, a dose of the melodies can brighten up your day. Recording Artist Rhiya Luna speaks on it in her latest single, “Sweet Reggae Music“. Produced by Nuh Response Production, Rhiya shares how the music takes over her life (even though it affects her love life), and making her choose anything other than Reggae music is a no no. Jamaica boasts with this export, and the plethora of Artists who have blessed the world with it will not stop. Closing off the month of July, we urge you to stop what you’re doing, and enjoy some “Sweet Reggae Music” below. Show us some love on Instagram at @13thStreetPromo.
As we close the month of July, we had to throw in a classic. Today our Oldies Sunday selection comes from Recording Artist Clive Brown a.k.a. “Snow Ball Brown“. What is considered one of the greatest Festival Song Contest entries, we present to you “Chiquitita“! Produced by Sherman Clachar, this was released through Arabic Records in 1994, and became an entry in the 1994 Festival Song Contest. Though not a winning entry, it quickly became a hit outside of the contest. It music video was one to look forward to in the evenings on JBC TV before the News. With the infectious chorus, you couldn’t help but imitate Snow Ball’s delivery of “Oooh Chiquititaaaa…“. Not much was heard of Snow Ball Brown since his hit (except that he entered a few more times with no success, and fell on hard times), but “Chiquitita” continues to pop up during Jamaica’s Emancipation/Independence Day celebrations.

The new music roll outs won’t stop around here. Today, we have new fire from Producer Dale Virgo, and Deejay Twinkle Brain! While Virgo recently released his debut EP, “Upful“, he continues to produce and release music at a steady pace. With the summer doing its thing, he drops some more heat with the single, “Number 1“. With Twinkle Brain dropping the lyrics, this one goes for the ladies as they’ll be feeling good all over with this release. From the opening melodies and lyrics, to the overall production, all the ladies will wine and go down to this while claiming the #1 spot.
The single is the first release for Dale Virgo’s upcoming EP titled “Afro“, and will hit the streets later this year. This is definitely one to keep in heavy rotation. If you want to stream/purchase it, you can get it on Spotify, Apple Music, Deezer, and Tidal. A production of DZL Records. Jamaican music is still winning, don’t forget that. Recently, the legendary Toots & The Maytals blessed The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon’s set, and gave them a double dose of that good music. Performing the classic “Funky Kingston“, they also premiered a new single titled “Marley“. Fans will love this, and others will learn about one of the Jamaican staples. Funny enough, yesterday we featured a single from Toots Hibbert’s Grandson, Blizzi that you can check out here. It’s still party time over here, so get in this club! To join in on the summer fun, DJ/Producer/Producer Blizzi took time out from cooking up his upcoming project to release, “Good Time“! Produced by DJ Blizzard Music and featuring Singer Savone, Blizzi drops a song that has that chilling on the beach/laying up in a hammock/seeing the view from the 50th floor of the Penthouse vibe. Blizzi’s laid back flow, Savone’s syrupy vocals and a sample from Toots Hibbert & The Maytal’s “54-46 Was My Number” are key to keeping this one on repeat. For those unfamiliar, Blizzi is the Grandson of the legendary Toots Hibbert who has been doing his thing for quite some time. If you’re not picturing yourself hitting the road and escaping all the stress, you need to listen to this a few more times.
