The Producer is a very important person when it comes to Music. Without their contributions, many of your favourite songs would have never been heard. No matter how good an Artist is, a Producer helps to direct and develop the talent. Recently we had a chat with Florida based Producer/Recording Artist/Musician, Kris Karz. Known for his “Kngly Live!” series on here, he has also been a part of some tracks featuring some members of the “New Wave” movement (Royal Blu, Kapital Stone, K. Charlz, Leno Banton). @INI_Kamoze’s “Here Comes The HotStepper” Featured In New @JCPenney Ad!

It’s back to School time again, and US Retail giant JC Penney is here for it with all the sales. Recently, they released a new Commercial highlighting some “Back To School” deals with the “Get Your Penney’s Worth” tagline, and providing the soundtrack was the 1994 classic, “Here Comes The Hotstepper“! The song, which was performed by Jamaican Recording Artist Ini Kamoze and produced by US Producer Salaam Remi (Remix version) and the late Jamaican Producer “Fatis” Burrell (Original), is considered Ini’s biggest hit to date and his only track to top the US Billboard Top 100 Chart, while performing the same feat in the respective charts in Canada, New Zealand, and Denmark. The song was also a top 10 hit in various countries, and received Gold and Platinum certifications in the US, UK, Australia, New Zealand, Germany, and France. The Intro of the single (Hit it! Nah, na na na nah…Here comes the Hotstepper) was performed in the 15 second clip but not by the Artist. Check it out below!

Florida based Rapper Alvii is getting his name out there in every way. We featured him recently on “Catch Up“, and now he delivers his first Mixtape! Titled “Adventures Of Trueself“, this 7 track project sees him covering topics about his day to day life, as well as showing that he can handle any of the self-produced beats that he takes on. Featuring Jamaican Rapper Slim I.D. as the only guest, the project shows us that Alvii can hold his own. He also pays homage to Ocala, Florida where he currently resides. OLDIES SUNDAY: @KingBeenieMan – Maestro (1996)

On today’s Oldies Sunday, we look back at a single from the “Doctor“, Beenie Man! Recently he celebrated his 44th birthday, and we wanted to show love to one of the living Legends of Dancehall. Today we look at “Maestro“, an Opera inspired single that was produced by Patrick Roberts for Shocking Vibes Production on the “Sore Riddim” and released in 1996. Here Beenie further proclaims being “The Girls Dem Sugar” and shows love to the ladies who command attention, and are the “Wife” type. What really makes this single stand out, is Beenie’s delivery which is similar to an Opera Singer’s. “Maestro” was the first track featured on Beenie Man’s 1996 Album of the same name.
