Mixing Lab & @RoRoJammings Deliver The Genre-Bending Beatbox Album, “Mini Stereo”!

Make the music with your mouth…” – Biz Markie

While many of us utilized Desks and tabletops to provide the instrumentations for our Dancehall clashes and freestyle Rap sessions at School or on the corner, there are those who possessed the ability to make music with their mouths. Dervin Lee a.k.a. “Mixing Lab” is one of those with that unique ability. Having impressed many near and far with the skill of recreating some of your favourite beats, and creating new ones on the spot through Beatboxing, Mixing Lab decides to take it further with the release of his debut album, “Mini-Stereo“!

Done in collaboration with RoRo Jammings Productions, they dabble in Dancehall, Afrobeat, Reggae, Calypso, Hip Hop, Dubstep, and many other genres on a project that will have your attention from the Artist filled Intro, to the Dubstep/Calypso/Dancehall hybrid on track 10! The album even has something for the Gaming community thanks to a track titled, “Kayo“. Known as “The Beatbox Machine“, Mixing Lab has worked with Alozade, Beenie Man, Bounty Killa, and has showcased his talents at various events over the years. The “Mini-Stereo” album is considered the first of its kind in the Caribbean, and Mixing Lab joins the list of Artists who have studied the art of Beatboxing like Biz Markie, Doug E. Fresh, and Rahzel.

Mixing Lab and RoRo Jammings’ “Mini-Stereo” is now available on Spotify, Apple Music, Tidal, Amazon Music, Napster, and all other popular Music Streaming platforms. Hear the album first below, and share with a friend. Show us some love/follow us on Twitter and Instagram at @13thStreetPromo.

OLDIES SUNDAY: Flippa Mafia – Clothes Haffi Repeat (2009)

Happy Sunday everyone! Inspired by our Popeye Caution article, today’s Oldies Sunday selection comes from Dancehall’sFlossing King“, Flippa Mafia! It’s all about the fashion as we go back to 2009 to check out, “Clothes Haffi Repeat” a.k.a. “Repeat”! Produced by Christopher “Longman” Birchill of Birchill Records on the “Baddaz Riddim“, the track finds Flippa Mafia challenging those who said you shouldn’t repeat your outfits. Given the prices he has paid for his Designer branded clothes and where he purchased them from, he proclaims that he’ll wear them over and over again because he owns the clothes. Unlike some of his peers, Flippa threw shade at those who had to return their outfits to the store, or to the original owners which can be quite embarrassing.

Clothes Haffi Repeat” became one of Flippa Mafia’s signature tracks, and he enjoyed quite a buzz for a few years until he was nabbed by the DEA in 2013 during a drug bust. He was sentenced to 25 years in Prison in 2016. Despite the hand he was dealt, many still remember Flippa Mafia for his “flossing personality” and his selection of songs.

13thStreetPromo: Thanks for taking the time out to have a quick chat with 13thStreetPromotions.com. We’ve heard and enjoyed the tracks, but for those who don’t know, who is the Singer named Jaz Elise?

Jaz Elise: I am just a girl who decided to take a leap of faith less than a year ago to do music for a living. I love singing, wholeheartedly. It brings me a joy, and I’ve found that the best way I can reach people is through my voice. I am fully born and raised in Jamaica also.

13thSP: When did you realize you could have a career in music? How did you get your start?

JE: I have always been singing (church, school etc), but never really took it seriously. I was mainly empowered to only do a 9-5. My exposure to the arts however empowered me to really see a career being a Recording Artist. I really got the calling and courage to do it as a career a few years ago and that’s when I started going to studio, and did a few singing gigs all while still being in school. Encouragement from my friends and family as well as a personal conviction really pushed me to decide to do it as a career though. I would say when I released my first single (“For You“) in November 2018 that’s when I decided to go full force into it.
