2023 is almost over, but we can’t let it go without recognizing that many stepped up their game this year. Content creation was at an all time high, and many got a chance to enjoy viral love, fame, and extra money in their Bank accounts. Today, we want to recognize the work of the Director (who can’t do it without a great team), and show love to a few of Our Favourite Music Videos Of 2023 in words, and with a few Posters made by our 13th Street Visuals platform.
These videos are in no particular order.
Masicka – Tyrant
(Directed by Ruppi for Now Or Never)

“Tyrant” finds Masicka at the top of his game. Whether he’s in the Mansion with a bevy of Ladies in all black with Helmets or in the streets with his crew, the Deejay further solidifies his place in Dancehall Music with a beautifully-shot visual directed by Ruppi. “Tyrant” is featured on Masicka’s sophomore album, “Generation Of Kings“.
Pablo YG – D.I.E
(Directed By KhingCam)

2023 was a breakout year for Pablo YG. His increasing catalogue quickly made him one of 2023’s top Rookies. While many applaud him for the Trap/Chop songs and tracks for the ladies, “D.I.E” finds him reflecting on a lost friend. The KhingCam-directed flick finds him reconnecting with a friend from beyond the grave for a few moments. With many of us wishing we could call lost long friends and family members, Pablo YG got a chance to do that through song and video. Salute to the team for making possible. May the ones who are no longer with us sleep in peace.
Teejay – Drift
(Directed by Lagikz Supreme)

Teejay has had one of his best years in his music career, and “Drift” became one of the biggest Dancehall tunes locally, regionally, and Internationally. What is a hit single without a flashy music video? Lagikz Supreme caught Teejay being a hometown hero dancing on top of a vehicle in his community, highlighting Dancers performing the “Drift Dance“, fast cars, and a vibe that pairs well with the hit single. Get your dance on.
Ymo G – Insomnia
(Directed By WVLNTH)

When it comes to the hustle, some aim to get the money through any means. Dancehall Artist Ymo G took his ambitions to another level with “Insomnia“. Under WVLNTH’s direction, we see a Man performing money rituals, shedding light on the lengths some will go to gain success. The Choppa life is a dark one, and the video for “Insomnia” is a fitting one for someone who won’t sleep till he’s rich.
Skeng x Jigsta – Smood Wid It
(Directed By Ruppi For Now Or Never)

Ting a ling a ling, the Students are out in the streets, and it’s time to dance. Skeng teamed up with Jigsta a.k.a. Jiggy D for a track that got everyone showing off dance moves. It was only right that a Music Video was made for “Smood Wid It“. Viewers saw the Deejays rock School Uniforms and take over parts of Half Way Tree and the infamous Droptop Swag Shop with dancers who got to moving when the beat drops. An energetic visual that really complimented the single. School is over for today, now it’s time to play.
