It’s a new month, and the classics don’t stop on “Oldies Sunday“. For today’s selection, we provide a little motivation for those who have been oppressed in their everyday lives. We go back in time to check out Frankie Sly’s “Haters Anthem“.
Produced by Dave Kelly (a.k.a. Stranger) and released through Madhouse Productions on “The Bug Riddim“, Frankie Sly is all about overcoming obstacles, securing success, and living his best life in “Haters Anthem”. Armed with a gritty flow and an aggressive attitude, Sly won over listeners with the track, and it was one of the popular releases off of “The Bug Riddim”, which included tracks with friends/label mates Wayne Wonder, and Baby Cham, and one of Bounty Killa’s most powerful songs that got banned in Jamaica. The song was made to fuel some motivation for those who felt like better days and opportunities weren’t coming their way, and kept their confidence in the clouds, and their dreams active.
Since the release of “Haters Anthem”, Frankie Sly went on to release more music over the years. Still active on the scene, many remember his more prominent singles from the 90s/early 2000s. “Haters Anthem” remains one his most memorable singles.
THANK YOU FRANKIE SLY FOR THIS HIT!
