Jamaica is known for hosting a number of events that highlight the Island’s various cultures. This year, there will be a shift, and it comes in the form of “Kingston Pirates Week“, and this is something you will want to be a part of.
Yesterday (July 8), the prestigious Pegasus Hotel in Kingston held the Press Launch of “Kingston Pirates Week” and announced the return of the “Kingston City Run“. Founded by Event Planners/Managers Peter Shoucair JP and Jo-Anne Paxton, “Kingston Pirates Week” aims to highlight the Pirate culture that once ruled, and provide another lane for Tourism. The event series will be based in Port Royal, once known as the Pirate capital of the world, and one of the most prosperous cities in the world, will host a number of activities including Beach cleanups, street dances, and a number of excursions. The event also announced the return of the “Kingston City Run”. The annual marathon event was postponed for a number of years due to Covid-19, and aims to make a grand return during “Kingston Pirates Week”. At the Press Launch, a number of dignitaries made presentations including Christopher Jarrett, JHTA President, Mishika Silvera, Destination Manager at TPDCo, Professor Gordon Shirley, Port Authority of Jamaica’s CEO, and Senator Hon. Delano Seiveright, Minister of State, Tourism. The event also highlighted a number of sponsors including CastleBlack Spirits, Excelsior, Holiday Snacks, the Jamaican Tourist Board, Sparkles Productions, Tourism Enhancement Fund, and Nupack.
