2023 celebrates 50 years of Hip Hop, and its culture has been one of great influence. While many of you know of its history, the art form continues to birth new talent, new ideas, and new movements from around the world. Rapper/Producer BEAM is not only a student, but he uses his talents to pay tribute to those who have previously made contributions to Hip Hop’s development. He steps up with the video for the track, “FU“.
Directed by madebyJAMES, City James, and Darrin James, BEAM uses his platform to honour 50 years of Hip Hop, pay tribute to the classic Hip Hop trio FU-Schnickens and their 1992 hit “True Fuschnick, and salute to the Dancehall styles of his Father, Gospel Recording Artist/Minister Papa San. Both FU-Schnickens and Papa San ruled their respective music arenas with their speedy flows, and they definitely inspired many to borrow the styles. Salute the OGs. The black and white visual takes us back to the 90s, and BEAM has no problem ripping the beat, and letting loose his barrage of flows and bars. We’re taken through a number of New York spots and buildings, and this track is one to be celebrated. Many will say there’s nothing like the old school, but we believe in combining the best of the old and the new to make something special. Salute to Chip Fu, Moc Fu, Poc Fu, Papa San, and Hip Hop!
