Malabre Takes His Talents From The Studio, To The Kitchen In Canada

When you’re a part of the Music business, one would say it’s an opportunity for something great, but when you gain success from it, it’s a blessing. Everyday there is a new Artist somewhere trying to hone their skills, or trying to get signed or given a “buss“. For St. Elizabeth-born/Canada-based Recording Artist Malabre, he got the opportunity to be in the music industry, and benefited as a Recording Artist, and as a Label owner/Producer for his South Syndicate Muzik. Having worked with a number of upcoming and established acts over the years, he branched off into the world of TikTok where he would share his views on happenings in the Entertainment industry along with sharing his music, and quickly he became one of the voices of reason on the Jamaican side of the platform. Recently, he further extended his talents to the Kitchen with the launch of the Caribbean Food establishment, “Simply Jamaican“.

Opened on September 12 in the Etobicoke area in Ontario, Canada, Malabre established “Simply Jamaican” as the place where the food does the talking as opposed to him speaking through his music and Social Media platforms. The family-run Restaurant was inspired by his upbringing in Jamaica, as his family was devoted to creating well-loved meals for the household, and with family members even setting up businesses throughout the Island over the years to varied success. Malabre’s experiences in Canada’s local and imported cuisine further spurned his interest in launching his own Restaurant, and being more hands on in ensuring that the food he grew up on, was made available for the locals in Etobicoke, and surrounding areas with high quality and top tier authenticity. Since opening, “Simply Jamaican” has been gaining a tremendous amount of support, with fellow Social Media Personalities showing up for dining, and supporters of Malabre keeping him and his work unit busy through orders via the DoorDash and Uber Eats platforms. While the Studio may be calling him, it will have to be on a temporary hold as he takes care of communities with home-style meals, and Caribbean vibes. If you’re nearby, support “Simply Jamaican” today at 20 Lockport Ave. Etobicoke M8Z 2R7, or call +1 437-928-6643. You can also follow “Simply Jamaican” on Instagram and TikTok at @SimplyJamaicanToronto.

Jelissa Williamson Celebrates Jamaican Heritage With Kid-Friendly Craft

To all my viewers and readers living overseas, how much do you miss being at home? We understand many migrated for financial reasons, and some desire to return living better than they lived growing up in the Caribbean. Some keep the feeling alive by visiting when they can, some attend Caribbean-themed events, some secure the family connection, while others find creative ways to make “farrin” feel like home. London-based Creative and Mother of two Jelissa Williamson a.k.a. Jelissa Marie may not have been born in Jamaica, but she makes connections to keep herself and her family close to her heritage. Recently, she used her love of being creative to celebrate her heritage that everyone can enjoy.

With “Felt Like Yard“, Jelissa Marie creates fun items that tap into her love for Jamaica. In a series of videos she shared on Social Media, she displayed Jamaican cuisine and fruits that had many doing double takes to see if the food was real. From Ackee & Saltfish, to Oxtail with Plantain and Rice and Peas, to Patty, to Guineps, to Porridge with Crackers, to Jerk Chicken, Jelissa’s hands were given a special touch to make these well-loved items from home come to life. With children in mind including her two daughters, Jelissa’s creations encourage stronger family bonds, and with the use of the Montessori Education system, boost children’s zeal for learning and creativity, and develop a love and respect for heritage. The Montessori system is an educational system designed to tap into children’s natural interests and activities rather than a formal way of learning. This includes hands-on learning, playing, developing real-world skills, emphasizing a child’s independence and eagerness to learn.

Jelissa is currently dealing with a demand for her Island creations to be made for purchase, but she is finalizing her catalogue of items, and has a waiting list available for those interested. She’s also open for collaborations. You can find Jelissa on Instagram and TikTok.
