When it comes down to it, the game of emcees will not and is not made for every living soul out here. Any class of elites that exists does not need to prove that they are elite, they just are. #PayAttention boasts of being Jamaica’s premier Hip-Hop event, where is the contention? If you ask me, those bragging rights are fully legit and unchallenged.

Laron, CEO/Founder of Deadline Promotions, has few words but is a major player to know.

Q: Deadline Sound has been working closely with #PayAttention since it’s inception. What has the experience been like carrying Jamaica’s largest Hip-Hop movement?

A: It has been a great experience and a great journey with the 1st Coast Massive. Deadline Sound represents for music and especially if that music comes from our own island shores. I have seen the #PayAttention movement grow and it continues to grow. I can only say: we are privileged to be apart of the movement!

Q: You’re well ingrained in Jamaica’s entertainment business; through the ups and downs that the 1st Coast Movement endures can you comment on the progress that you’ve seen over the years?

A: We know Dancehall and Reggae is the popular and generally accepted local genres on the Island. However, I’ve seen the 1st Coast Movement literally gain traction in a sphere that otherwise would not be bothered with the likes of local Hip-Hop. You really have attracted the ‘Attention’ of the local entertainment scene.

Q: I know #PayAttention is made to cater to artistes but how would you feel if #PayAttention started highlighting producers in the local Hip-Hop game? [Maybe even at a new separate event]

A: I think that’s an idea the #PayAttention team should definitely take into consideration.

Q: With recent successes, “New Day Riddim” and “Release Riddim”, what’s next for Deadline Sound as we progress through 2015?

A: Well, the team really has been putting in the work. We have new exclusive Riddims dropping very soon and projects in the works with top local acts. Look out for our own recording artiste, Sanity, who has been gaining serious momentum in the 2015 Dancehall scene.

Q: In conclusion, with entertainer’s rising to fame overnight literally, what advice do you have for someone seeking to make a long-lasting mark in Jamaica’s entertainment industry? [whether it be Hip-Hop, Dancehall, Roots etc.]

A: Don’t stop the work. Be persistent and consistent. And remember to stay in love with the music.
