J’Calm Collabs With Nigy Boy On “Emotions” For Upcoming Album

Recording Artist J’Calm has been building on his brand in the past few years. From International recognition, to collaborations with some of the biggest names in Jamaican music, he’s ensuring his tenure is a long one. With a new album on the way, he’s keeping the people occupied with new music. Recently, he released the single, “Emotions“.

Produced by Tony “CD” Kelly and featuring Nigy Boy, J’Calm taps into R&B/Dancehall vibes in, “Emotions”. The track finds the Artists tapping into their vulnerabilities, and oozing confidence as well throughout, making for a release that will reel in the ladies from around the world. The track samples the “Answer Riddim“, a classic Dancehall Riddim that drew inspiration from Sir Coxsone Dodd’s original production that has had many versions from the likes of Blacker Dread, Steely and Clevie, and “Fatis” Burrell. Fun fact: Tony Kelly also had a version of the “Answer Riddim” that featured Charlie Chaplin. J’Calm’s upcoming album titled, “Emotions”, promises to make an impact, with hopes of enhancing the International Dancehall scene, and place him at the forefront.

Produced by Dre Skull for Mixpak and featuring Skillibeng, Cholita shares her desire to be with her love interest in, “Without You”. She shares the benefits of having the right person in her life, while Skillibeng outlines his reasons why she should get with him, and leave her current partner behind. It’s a perfect match when the love is mutual, and the compatibility is undeniable. This collaboration is ready for the International market, so don’t be surprised if another International brand scoops this one up. Some are saying Cholita is the next International superstar to emerge out of Jamaica, and with her current releases, we believe she’ll be doing even more damage with future releases. OLDIES SUNDAY: Singing Melody – Say What (2000)

It’s been a while, but we’re back with “Oldies Sunday“! No matter what’s going on outside, good music is always inside. Today’s selection comes from the birthday boy, one of Jamaica’s legendary Vocalists, Singing Melody. We go back to check out, “Say What“.

Produced by Bobby “Digital-B” Dixon for Digital-B Records and released in 2000, Singing Melody delivers something for the ladies with “Say What”. The song finds him playing the role of a Man who is distraught with a Woman’s bad experiences in a relationship, and has all intention to make her life better. For every wrong move that Man made, Melody would do right by his love interest. “Say What” was released at a time when Singing Melody was one of the top acts out along with being a part of the supergroup, L.U.S.T. with Tony Curtis, Thriller U, and Lukie D. The single quickly became a hit for him, adding to the list as he was enjoying a career spanning a number of years. The single was later featured on his 2002 3rd album, “Expressions“.

Since the release of “Say What”, Singing Melody went on to release more music. He briefly enjoyed time as a local Reality TV star with his Wife, and is still actively recording music, and DJs for his fans on Social Media livestreams. “Say What” continues to get played in parts of the world, and remains one of his top hits.

Hurricane Relief efforts are still going on in Jamaica, and many are getting the help they deserve slowly but surely. Many of the Island’s Entertainers are doing their part, even launching organizations to do more for the people for years to come. Dancehall Artist Armanii has made his efforts as well, and we see some of it in, “Champion“.

In a Visualizer directed by DJuvii, Armanii had plans to shoot a music video for the ProdByCarpp/Glvde-produced single, but felt it was only right to use the budget to help the people. Taking a roadtrip through St. Elizabeth and Westmoreland, they were met with a few bumps in the road, but had firsthand witness to the devastation that Hurricane Melissa left on the Island. If the goal was to only help one person, it was more than a done task in the end. In the closer, they decided to support the Island’s Football team, the “Reggae Boyz” in their World Cup-qualifying match against Curacao. In these trying times, every mickle mek a muckle, and we’re all doing our part. Continue recovering Jamaica.

Music From Toots & The Maytals, Byron Lee Featured In @RoofmanMovie

Have you watched any Movies lately? We’ve been catching up on a few recently including the Film, “Roofman“. “Roofman” is based on a true story and stars Channing Tatum, who plays the role of Jeffrey Manchester, a charismatic felon who while on the run, found refuge in a “Toys R Us” store, and adopted a new identity. The Film was released last month, and in the closing scenes, familiar sounds were heard.

In the final scenes of the Film, “Roofman”, music from Toots & The Maytals and Bryon Lee were featured. In one scene, “Happy Christmas” by Toots & The Maytals with Byron Lee & The Dragonaires was played, while Byron Lee & The Dragonaires’ version of “Auld Lang Syne” played in another. “Happy Christmas” was produced by Warrick Lyn and released in 1972 through the Jaguar label. Byron Lee’s “Auld Lang Syne” featured The SPM Singers, and was released in 1971 through Dynamic Sounds. Both music releases have found significant places in the music world, and continue to get played via streams and live events during the holiday season.

“Roofman” is out now on popular Video Streaming platforms, and select Theatres.

Rie Osei is a legend in the making. The Ghana/Chicago-based Recording Artist has been cruising in top gear with her music over the past couple years. From growing her streaming numbers and fanbase, to connecting with some of the biggest names in Afrobeats, she’s setting herself up to be a name for many to remember. With a year that found doing necessary things to further build her career, she steps into the closing parts of 2025 with, “Problem“.

Produced by Jhinzo and Sarmyfire, Rie Osei is owning her moment, and might be too much for those in her way in, “Problem”. Armed with Amapiano/Afrofusion sounds, she delivers something that will put some bounce in our systems, while reeling us in with her vocals that  will stay in your head for a long time. She has been building her catalogue, and with the energy she shared throughout this year, she will bring it a more levels in 2026. No matter what’s happening in the world, music will be the thing that helps to keep us going. Rie Osei is a good problem to have.
