Yaksta Reconnects With A Love From The Past In “Hooked On You”

I think it’s safe to say we’ve all experienced puppy love at least once in our life. Dancehall/Reggae Artist Yaksta has experienced that himself, and went on to experience other types of love growing up. What happens when you cross paths with someone you had puppy love with? Well, tune in to his video for the new single, “Hooked On You“.

Directed by BadShoota for Now Or Never, Yaksta finds himself reconnecting with a love from the past in the video for, “Hooked On You”. Produced by CJ The Chemist for Chemist Records/Prime Nation on the “Brooklyn Girls Riddim“, we see Yaksta reminiscing his childhood days with his crush, and now that they’re adults, they seek to renew their relationship through a series of events. Remember when you’d share candy or maybe a bag juice or few with someone special? How many of us are still with that person you first fell in love with? “World Boss” fans are eating today as Vybz Kartel has found himself on another Remix. Earlier we shared the “New Gears (Remix)” with Skillibeng, and now he’s in Ghana with his Ghanaian counterpart, Shatta Wale. Together, they release the “Street Crown (Remix)“.

Produced by Shatta Movement Records, Vybz Kartel and Shatta Wale adjust their crowns, and dominate on the “Street Crown (Remix)”. While they have collaborated previously, this is their first collaboration since Vybz has been released from Prison. They provide motivation here, and further seal their unity while complimenting their respective styles. Ghana is awaiting the “World Boss” as there has been talk of him being there by the end of the year. Two Kings with their respective movements, continuing to run things. Believe in yourself.

A few months ago, Dancehall Artist Skillibeng had the world locked in with the release of, “New Gears“. Since then, there have been talks of other Artists, namely Vybz Kartel, joining in on a possible remix. After a few previews, the “New Gears (Remix)” is finally official!

Produced by Madenka and Endo, Skillibeng calls up the “World Boss” Vybz Kartel for the official remix to “New Gears”. Kartel is given the floor to declare that he’s doing the damn thing as a free Man, with ambitions of more prosperity from here on. Skilli also delivers some fresh lyrics here, as it’s only right that the King and the Prince combine their powers to give the already-popular original track more life with a remix. What a way to start the Friday.

Dancehall Icon Elephant Man continues to keep the content going this year. For a Man with 3 decades in, he’s not slowing down. This past Summer found him taking over stages and releasing music, and the people are loving. From viral moments to recognition from various parts of the Music Industry, the “Energy God” keeps pushing. Earlier, he premiered the music video for the single, “Style“.

Directed by Rojhay Anderson, Elephant Man lives by his motto, “Thirst is nothing, Image is everything” in the video for, “Style”. Whether being surrounded by beautiful Women, taking to the streets with luxury vehicles, or enjoying the good life, Ele does it all in style. Nhance Releases “Life Machine” Off Upcoming Bashy1Law Project

Recently, Artist Manager/Label Owner Bashy1Law announced a new project titled, “From Dad, To Star“. The new project serves as a tribute to his late Daughter Alexandrianna “Star” Jones who passed away last January, and will feature contributions from a number of high-profile acts. On what would have been her 5th Birthday on September 23, the single from the project, “Life Machine” by Nhance was released.

Produced by CollectDiBred Entertainment, Nhance pays tribute to not only the late Alexandrianna Jones, but loved ones who passed on in, “Life Machine”. The Deejay shares the pain experienced when losing a loved one, including the pain felt when the sound from a Life Support Machine signals the loss of life. The new “From Dad, To Star” project features Chronic Law’s “Cry”, another dedication to Bashy1Law’s Daughter, and more announcements will follow shortly. Continue to sleep well, Alexandrianna.

In music, there are names that are immortalized in song. You know plenty of those songs, but when you own one of the names, it’s really special. Today’s “Oldies Sunday” will be special for the Women who own this name. Today’s selection comes from Daddy Screw with the track, “Kerry“.

Produced by Dave Kelly on the “Car Crash Riddim” and released through the Mad House label in 1994, Daddy Screw had “Kerry” on his mind a lot. Featuring Singer Donovan Steele, the song finds the Artists making their dedication to Kerry, assuring love and loyalty, dismissing other Women, and of course making her feel like the only girl in the world. All the Women named Kerry quickly owned this song when it was released back in the day, and it definitely boosted their confidence. Aside from them, the song became one of Screw’s hits, securing high positions on local charts, and finding its way into the International market.

Since the release of “Kerry”, Daddy Screw went on to release more music over the years. He migrated to the US in later years, but the musical output slowed since. He supported the career of his son Tyrello a.k.a. Chedda Da Medalis, who had some success in music over the years. “Kerry” continues to be played to this day, along with his many hits. Big up all the Kerry dem.
