R&B Veteran Keith Sweat always had a thing for delivering that feel good grown folks music. From his debut decades ago, he has been the one to turn up the heat for the ladies. Recently, he released his 13th studio album, “Playing For Keeps“. While fans know what to expect from the R&B Crooner, his collaboration with Dancehall Artist Alkaline on “Fuego” was a pump on the brakes. The track, which also features Akon and RayFade, boasts some modern production and encourages you to bust a move throughout. Are there hints of Aidonia and Di Genius’ “Fi Di Jockey” and Donovan Germaine and Dave Kelly’s “Dickie” Riddims I hear? Alkaline held his own on this track and this a huge look for not only the Dancehall Artist, but for the genre on a whole. Big up the Detta Boss. Keith Sweat’s new album is out now. Another day, another fire remix for you to hear! Producer Demitri Thelwell is no stranger to the Blog, but it’s been a while since we’ve heard some of his unique sounds. Today he changes that as he give Alkaline’s “Bruck Out” the “.Wav” treatment! Originally on Notnice’s “Boom Box Riddim“, this one is for all those who are looking for something to rock to while taking in the summer. This is also for the Vendetta fans, as they hear one of their faves on another instrumental. Have some fun, check out the new “.Wav Remix” below, and show us some love on Instagram at @13thStreetPromo.
We took a week off, but today we’re back with another post in our “Quick Throwback” series. Today we go back to the year 2011 with Alkaline’s “Mi Love Woman“! Borrowing Seanizzle’s “Split Personality Riddim“, the young Alka (who was attending Ardenne High School at the time) expressed his love for the women, and wishes to “touch all the women in the world“. He also shot a video and featured some of his high school peers.
Since the release of “Mi Love Woman”, Alkaline went on to become one of Jamaica’s most controversial Deejays with a cult-like following similar to currently incarcerated Artist, Vybz Kartel. He has enjoyed his fair share of hit songs as well, and has managed to see success despite taking time off, or being involved in conflict. Stay tuned for another quick throwback!

Weeks ago, Hip Hop Artist A Boogie Wit Da Hoodie posted a photo on Instagram which featured the Vendetta Boss, Alkaline. In the caption, Boogie asked for 50,000 likes as permission to collaborate with the Dancehall Artist. A couple hundred thousand likes (and a deleted post) later, the collab came in the form of the single, “Nonchalant“! Speaking on the lifestyles they live, they warn the ladies that they’re not Romeos so don’t expect any exclusivity. Blending both of their signature sounds, you’ll find yourself rocking to this collaboration, and wanting to hear more from them. Maybe they have more in store, would be interesting if they made an EP together as well. What do you think? Check out the track below, and follow us on Instagram at @13thStreetPromo.
Yeah I said it. The Artist born Earlan Bartley has been gaining some traction in Dancehall Music over the years. Despite the controversies, he still manages to have a large fan base, plenty bookings, and hit songs. With his buzz starting around 2013, he first caught the attention of many with his Music Video for “Not A Slack Song”. The video, which scored high on the raunchy scale, was met with a huge backlash online with many writing him off as an Artist who had to use controversy to get a “buss”. The songs that followed further got his name buzzing for better, or for worse.
With the recent beefs making their rounds in the Dancehall circles, there are a few of us who wished things got to a point where the Artists involved could just settle it all with fists in a ring. Luckily for us, Comedian Kyng Tavii spared loss of lives, unnecessary injuries, and saved a bag of money on bills and Insurance with his latest skit. Here he re-imagines the beefs as WWE Wrestling matches complete with an excited audience. In the ring we have Mavado vs Popcaan, each with their ring side partners. Who will win this match?
