Teejay's "Drift" featured in "Fortnite" game series on 13thStreetPromotions.com #Jamaica #Dancehall #Music #13thStreetPromotions #Teejay #Fortnite #VideoGame #Gaming #Drift #Emote #Caribbean

Teejay’s “Drift” Single & Dance Featured In Popular @FortniteGame Series

Gamers unite! There’s nothing like kicking back and enjoying a few hours of Video Games. While some may have other opinions on gaming and gamers, we don’t want to hear all that, just turn up the volume. If you’re a lover of Dancehall, then stick around for this. Recently, popular online gaming series “Fortnite” gave users a few new updates that included new skins, weapons, music, and Emotes, and music from Dancehall Artist Teejay was included in the new update.

Teejay’s 2023 hit single “Drift” was featured in the latest update of the popular “Fortnite” gaming series. Produced by DJ Mac/ProdByPanda, “Drift” placed the Deejay on another level. From the “Drift Challenge” on TikTok, to remixes, to a label deal with Warner Bros., “Drift” becoming a part of the soundtrack for “Fortnite” just extended its shelf life. In addition to the single, an “Emote” (an action or series of animated actions done by a gamer’s in-game avatar) was created to perform the popular “Drift” dance by any character that possesses it. The dance was created by Gabbidon, and is a huge look for the Jamaican Dancing community, Dancehall, and the Video Game Industry as this can open up even more doors for Caribbean Artists. “Drift” was featured on Teejay’s “I Am ChippyEP, and gained cosigns by a number of local and International personalities. “Fortnite” was developed by Epic Games, and is free to download on all popular console game platforms along with Windows, Android, and MacOS/iOS (despite an ongoing court battle between Apple and Epic Games).

What’s Your Favourite Video Game?

Video Games are a way of life, and have been that way for many for years. In the Caribbean, Game Arcades or “Game Shops” have been the hotspot for the young and old who saw video games as tools for enjoyment and relaxation. Things got more interesting when Gaming consoles made their way into homes. In the later years, Esports tapped into the Islands, giving people opportunities to make new connections, generate streams of income, and live the dream. Recently at the JEI Grand Finals event, we asked a few attendees the question, “What’s Your Favourite Video Game?“.

From Cosplayers, to casual gamers, to competitive gamers, we got a variety of answers to show that the video game culture is strong on the Island. We also want you, the reader, to join in by sharing with us your favourite video game. Look for our post on this video on our Instagram or Tiktok, and share yours.

We Have Highlights From The @JamaicaEsports Grand Finals!

Last weekend (September 30), the Jamaica Esports Initiative (JEI) held the grand finals of the National Esports League. Held at The Confucius Institute at UWI Mona, attendees entered into a world of competitive gaming, Cosplay, and more, and it was fun for all ages. The main event featured teams from around Jamaica competing for trophies, prizes, and bragging rights in Tekken 7, Super Smash Brothers Ultimate, Street Fighter 6, E-Football, and Rocket League. The JEI National Esports League was established in 2022, but the JEI has been around since 2018 fostering the growth of the Esports culture in Jamaica. With the help of organizations like the Anime Nerds of Jamaica (ANJ), Jamaica Cosplayers Club, and events like the AnimeCom Festival, more individuals are embracing and celebrating their love for Anime, Gaming, and various aspects of Pop Culture in Jamaica, and more can be done to encourage it with no opposition.

We attended the event, and captured a few highlights. We also have additional content featuring Gamers, and Cosplayers, which we will be following up with later this week. If you’re into the world of Anime and Video Games, what are your favourites? Share with us on Instagram. Big up the JEI for a great event, and we look forward to bigger and better next year.
