Remember the Black Cowboy FilmThe Harder They Fall“? The Netflix Film was directed by Jeymes Samuel, starred Idris Elba, Regina King, and Jonathan Majors, and instantly became a hit. Samuel is back with a new Film called “The Book Of Clarence“, has brought along a soundtrack that is packed with a few stars including Buju Banton, Shabba Ranks, and Lil Wayne on the track, “Hallelujah Heaven“.

Produced by Jeymes Samuel (Hip Hop heads may know his early work as a part of Production team “The Bullits), “Hallelujah Heaven” is a display of Gospel-tinged sounds, thumping drums, solid lyricism, and great energy from two Jamaican legends, and a New Orleans Hip Hop legend. Buju and Shabba are no strangers to Hip Hop/Dancehall collaborations, and they ensured that their words connect with the people of Earth and the beings in Heaven, and keep the darkness out of the hearts of many. “Hallelujah Heaven” is just one of many tracks that make for a great soundtrack for a Film that is already high on the anticipation. “The Book Of Clarence” stars LaKeith Stanfield, who plays a man in Jerusalem who is down on his luck, and has to go through a series of events in order to have a better life. The Film also stars Teyana Taylor and Omar Sy, and will hit the Theatre screens on January 12, 2024.

Ladies Walk Out To Kizzy Don’s “Hollywood”

Internet sensation/Recording Artist Kizzy Don’s year has seen a series of highs, and a number of low moments. Having gained a respectable following on TikTok thanks to her various skits and interactions, she has also gained her fair share of negative remarks, and faced a few unfortunate incidents. She still pushes on, and looks to become a name that owns a few hits locally and Internationally. She recently released the visual for the new single, “Hollywood“.

Produced by Lenoi Bentley, Kizzy Don giving her Female listeners an extra dose of confidence on “Hollywood”. She delivers in a way that will have listeners imitating, and she brings an energy throughout that will keep the track in heavy rotation. The Saii Media-directed visual features cameos by Social Media sensations AbleBoss, Mackerel, and Lando Dmajorr, and we see Kizzy along with Able and Lando take on Judge roles as a number of Women step up to show off their respective looks and skills in a competition. The antics of Lando and Able will have viewers chuckling, but Kizzy will make sure all eyes are set on her throughout. Gyal walk out for new Kizzy Don!

Here Are A Few Times The Jamaican Accent Was Terribly Done In Film!

Have you all seen the new season of Luke Cage on Netflix? If you have, you’d notice the Jamaican influence throughout as Luke’s latest antagonist is a Jamaican by the name of “Bushmaster“. While that is pretty cool, many Jamaicans weren’t pleased with the representation of the Island, including the cringe-worthy butchering of the accent. While Writers Sharine and Andrayspoke about it earlier after a discussion with some of the folks behind the series, we’d like to look back at the times our accent was given a huge dose of injustice in Film. If only Hollywood would take the time out to do some proper research, and give natives a chance at properly representing the 876. If you’re interested in the Jamaican music played throughout, check out our latest playlist here. Check out these clips, and show us some love on Instagram at @13thStreetPromo.

Gabourey Sidibe – Tower Heist

If you’ve never seen this Eddie Murphy flick, you probably dodged a bullet. Anyway, while there were some decent scenes in this Comedy, this section is dedicated to Gabourey Sidibe’s role as Jamaican Odessa Montero. Pretty cringe worthy, even though the team behind it praised her role as “Refreshing. Refreshingly bad I must say. Check out the clip.
