The month of May is recognized as “Haitian Heritage Month“, and we’re sending love to Haiti, and those of Haitian descent on “Oldies Sunday“. Today, we go back in time a lil to check out Recording Artist Misty Jean’s “Kijan Lari A Ye“.

Produced by Jeff Wainwright and released through Melodie Makers, Inc. in 2008, “Kijan Lari A Ye” is a Compas single by Misty Jean that started a party in the streets. The production, the Haitian Creole, and the chanting throughout brought a unique vibe, and encouraged the listener to get in the groove. The single was released during one of the heights of Misty’s popularity, and it enjoyed much success locally, and Internationally. “Kijan Lari A Ye” was featured on Jean’s 3rd album, “Li Pa Two Ta“, which was also a successful release. A Music Video accompanied “Kijan Lari A Ye”, and was shot in Florida at the Plantation High School with Oriol Vatelia handling directorial duties.

Since the release of “Kijan Lari A Ye”, Misty Jean’s popularity grew even more. A star since a child, she earned a legendary status in the music scene, represented Haiti in various ways, got into acting and entrepreneurship, and worked on more music over the years. “Kijan Lari A Ye” is still played today by many around the world.

Speaking of education, Nigy recently graduated from Stony Brook University with a double major in Political Science, and has been showered with praises from the public. With a Master’s Degree on the horizon, Nigy gets back to the music to take care of the ladies. This time around, he wants them to “Get Wild“.

Produced by DJ Mac/Crash Dummy, Nigy Boy continues his Casanova ways on “Get Wild”. He gives the ladies something to rave about, and you know he’s about to steal them away and provide the pleasure they need. In the ladies department, Nigy is King over there. The creator of that sound was Manchester-based Dancehall Artist Top Banks as he was working on new music, and was testing the waters with his audience. The sound evolved into Comedy skits, a new way of life for some, and opened the floor for many, many discussions online about what is more important, getting the car or house first. Nonetheless, many awaited the official song to be made and released, and earlier today, Top Banks made that possible. Check out, “Fat Ride & Nuh House“.

Produced by Antuwang Music, Top Banks plays with the idea of car over property in “Fat Ride & Nuh House”. The Island hasn’t always been in the media for good news, and that needs to change, and uplift the nation. Haitian Electronic Music/Rara Tech DJ Gardy Girault is on a mission to get the world to love again, and he shares a message with the track, “Gaye Lòv La (Spread Love)“.

 The self-produced “Gaye Lòv La” was released through Rizing Muzik and features Haitian Recording Artist J. Perry. On the track, we get the message From Gardy Girault and Perry on the importance of spreading love, and the world is in need of it. People have been experiencing hatred, going through traumatic events, losing hope, and losing love, and the track looks to inspire people to put their best foot forward, and help to bring back the love. According to Girault and Perry, they are starting a love revolution. The mission doesn’t stop there as with the Oasis Imagery & Film-directed video, the Artists spread the love in the schools, in the streets, and at events.
