It’s a new month, but sadly we’re dealing with the same problems. From crime and violence, to corruption, we’re working on being closer to putting those behind us, and live in a better world. For today’s “Oldies Sunday” selection, we go back in time to check out Cultural Roots’ “World Of Illusion“.
Produced by Donovan Germain and released through the Germain Label and Revolutionary Sounds in 1982, Cultural Roots shared Social Commentary in, “World Of Illusion”. The group spoke about the injustice faced, everyday life getting harder, the wars that occur, and much more. The song speaks on the issues faced in those times, and sadly nothing has changed since. “World Of Illusion” was featured on the group’s 1982 album, “Drift Away From Evil“, and is a favourite for many. Consisting of Wade Dyce, Hubert Brooks, and “Sassa” Penny, Cultural Roots influenced many, with music focused on spiritual consciousness, social commentary, political resistance, and later on some of the band’s sounds helped to shape the early Dancehall sound.
Since the release of “World Of Illusion”, Cultural Roots went on to work with the likes of Al Campbell and Norman Rogers, who would be members at different points of the band’s life (Al joined after Wade Dyce’s departure). “World Of Illusion” still gets played around the world.
THANK YOU CULTURAL ROOTS FOR THIS TRACK!
