Dancehall Artist Najeeriii is on a high. The year has seen him get everything from viral moments, to seeing big numbers on Youtube, to even getting cosigned by Bounty Killa. One thing for sure, he’s looking past those who doubted him, and he continues to elevate on “Cruff”.

With WVLNTH directing the clip, Najeeriii reflects on his journey on “Cruff”. From days where some belittled him and never saw good in him, he now looks back on those while popping bottles, getting close with the ladies, and collecting his rewards. He still has a long way to go as an Artist, but things continue to look up for him. “Cruff” was produced by GodFloww and Tearsyde, and is expected to be another favourite for the fans. Directed by Now Or Never, Valiant gets the team together for a quick heist for some big rewards on “Crypto”. When that time is over, you can find him lavishing away with his newfound riches. In a world that finds many giving up morals and beliefs for fame and “the bag“, Reggae Artist Alborosie is not here for none of that. He is charged up, and ready to deliver the right message with his new single, “Nah Sell Out“.

Featuring GRAMMY-winning Artist Kabaka Pyramid, Alborosie shares on “Nah Sell Out” that the goal is to be successful and earn that money, but not at the cost of his faith and consciousness. He gets militant with Kabaka, and the track should be quick to slap you upside your head if you think you’re going to sell out for material things. The Warrior Films-directed visual finds the Artists chopping it up with their respective companions at the table, and we get flashbacks of them as kids experiencing various things in their community while trying to survive out there. Alborosie has found another hit with this single, and we expect its message to connect with the right people today. “Nah Sell Out” was featured on Alborosie’s latest album, “Destiny“.

Happy Oldies Sunday! In music, there are many who have enjoyed successful careers, some who have not so successful ones, and then there are those who moved on to even bigger things. Today’s selection comes from someone who enjoyed a moment in Jamaican music, but moved on to a completely different sector. Many know him as Hugh Faulkner, but music fans know him as Hugh Barrington with the track, “Loving Is A Thing” a.k.a. “Lodi Lodi”“.

Produced by King Jammy’s on the “Bandelero Riddim“, “Loving Is A Thing” was released through Jammy’s Records in 1986. Hugo Barrington brings some good vibes on the track, bringing the party to anyone who is listening (thanks to his “Lodi Lodi, we love to party” line). He shares that the style that’s presented is his own, as he switches between melodic lines, chants, and speedy deejaying. Love and unity are his messages throughout “Loving Is a Thing”, and the track was an instant hit among listeners. Barrington was also the first Artist to record on the “Bandelero” Riddim long before a certain legendary Artist created a hit with a track of the same name.

Since the release of “Loving Is a Thing”, Hugo Barrington went on to release more music before leaving the scene to enjoy a career in Law. Many moons and career role changes later, he was appointed the role of Commissioner at the Independent Commission of Investigations (INDECOM). He made a return to music in the early 2010s and in 2022 with a couple singles, and he made other contributions to the Jamaican entertainment scene as he was the founder of the “Professionals In Cabaret” concert series that enjoyed many years of success. Despite Hugo Faulkner’s gradual change of career and success, many still remember him as Hugo Barrington and his classic single.

He continues to build his life where there’s more success, love, and good things. The video shows Jahmiel sharing a table with many people, and one by one they leave their seat, symbolizing that at the end of the day, you only have yourself.
