“Calm Down”, And Enjoy Yanah’s New Single

The great thing about Women’s History Month, not only do we get to highlight some of the Women who have paved the way for others to follow, but we get to highlight the Women who are creating their own wave today. One of those Women is Recording Artist Yanah, who has been developing her sound for a number of years, and we believe she’s working on becoming a bigger, better Artist, inspiring others along the way. Recently, she premiered her new single, “Calm Down“.

Produced by Travis “Trex” Bailey, Yanah gets sensual on her new single, “Calm Down”. Using her sultry vocals over some solid production, she’s wooing listeners into her world, and for those who have their eye on her, you’ll be in for something fun when you get caught in her lyrics. Yanah continues to showcase her versatility, and “Calm Down” may become an instant favourite for those familiar with her music. The track is accompanied by a Music Video Co-directed with BadGee Studios, and we find the Singer raising the temperature with her visual. With the voice, lyrics, and looks, it’s going to be as little difficult to calm down, and we look forward to what else Yanah has in store this year.

Ignite Uses Music As His “Therapy”

With so much going on in the world today, it’s a miracle how many of us are still standing. Dancehall Artist Ignite knows the pain and hardship he has experienced, and still he moves forward, trying to overcome and gain success. When times get crazy, he uses music as his “Therapy“.

Produced by New Gen Ezy Records/Finesse Musiq/Levels Records, Ignite keeps his head high, and tries to overcome his painful episodes in “Therapy”. The Deejay is aware of those who didn’t mean him well, but he doesn’t need their apologies, and he uses his experiences to make his journey a move determined one. The burdens may be heavy, but he’s pushing on, and he moves accordingly as people are hard to trust, and times are serious. Music is his comfort through it out. “Therapy” is accompanied by a Golden Image-directed Music Video, and it finds the Deejay sharing his words in parts of Kingston, and even connecting with fellow Dancehall Artist Jamal for a fun moment. Foxy Brown "Sorry" on 13thStreetPromotions.com #Jamaica #Dancehall #Music #13thStreetPromotions #FoxyBrown #Sorry #TracyChapman #BabyCanIHoldYou #CoverSong #OldiesSunday #Oldies #OldSchool #1988 #Foxy #Caribbean

OLDIES SUNDAY: Foxy Brown – Sorry (1988)

The Month of March is recognized as “Women’s History Month“, and we recognize a few great Women who made significant contributions to Music. Today’s selection on “Oldies Sunday” comes from Foxy Brown (not the Rapper from Brooklyn) with the track, “Sorry“.

Produced and released by Harold “Papa Biggs” Mclarty on the “Taxi Riddim“, and released in 1988, Foxy Brown delivers a Jamaican cover of US Recording Artist Tracy Chapman’s single “Baby Can I Hold You“, but renamed “Sorry” for Foxy. The song speaks about a time when couples fall out and arguments happen, but when it comes to apologizing and making things right, it’s not always easy to do. Sometimes the right and important words just need to be said. Foxy sings throughout this, with her own melodies but borrowing the cadence from the original, over original Jamaican production. “Sorry” became a hit for Foxy Brown, but got even bigger when it was re-released in 1989 featuring production by Steely & Clevie. The new version also entered Billboard’s Black Singles chart. The song was also featured on her debut album, “Foxy“, which was released the same year. “Sorry” also allowed Foxy opportunities to voice Dubplates for years to come, and perform at various events.

Since the release of “Sorry”, Foxy released a few more singles in the early 1990s, and while some were hits, they didn’t match the level of “Sorry”, and her career stalled in that decade. Hard times fell on her along with a decline in her Mental Health, and she has been seen in various parts in Kingston over the years. She recently got some help from fellow Dancehall Artist Mr. Vegas, but we hope her living conditions improve as she still struggles with her Mental Health. “Sorry” remains her biggest hit.

Thank You Foxy Brown For This Hit!

The Carrzilla Effect Announces “Fire Stick Riddim”, Premieres @OneKacique “Old Fire Stick” Single

Jamaican born/St. Lucia based Label Owner/Entrepreneur/Producer Iraqi “Carrzilla” Carr is always ready to level. The founder of The Carrzilla Effect is always at the forefront when it comes music, and has used his platform to highlight upcoming and top billed acts. This year, he looks to shake things up with his first Riddim release since 2023 called, the “Fire Stick Riddim”. He aims to have the public talking about, and he enlists one of Jamaica’s top Lyricists for the first single.

Kicking off the first phase of musical domination for the year, Carrziila looks to capture the public’s attention with spicy releases from the “Fire Stick Riddim”. A follow up to 2023’s “Fret Not Riddim”, the new Riddim comprises of raw percussion and accompanying sounds that pair well with strong lyrics, and The Carrzilla Effect has a lineup that is guaranteed to make waves. To start things off, Dancehall Artist Kacique is called up for the Riddim’s first single, “Old Firestick”. Kacique has a track record of delivering songs that instantly grab the attention of the ladies, and with the song drawing inspiration from the Caribbean proverb, “Ole fire stick easy fi ketch”, “Old Firestick” plays like a Man who knows the right buttons to press on a former lover to get the best of her. The Deejay gives his signature energy throughout the track, with the intention to keep the single busy all year round in the streets, and in the streams. A music video featuring an appearance by prominent Video Vixen Zho is set to premiere on March 7, ahead of the Riddim Compilation’s official release later this month.

I strongly believe in harmony being the sixth sense, and it is used a lot when it comes to making music” shared Carrzilla. “The ‘Fire Stick Riddim’ comes from a dedication to creating the right sound to go well with the current music atmosphere. Picking the right Artists for the Riddim was carefully done, but having Kacique onboard made sense as he possesses a superb songwriting ability, solid melodies, and has a knack for crafting relatable lyrics that fit any production that’s thrown at him. ‘Old Firestick’ is the label’s first single for the ladies, and we’re ready for the world with this Riddim. We look forward to the support that will come.
