.@StefflonDon Brings Out Fighting Words On “Dat A Dat”

The “Dutty Money Riddim” that Rvssian unleashed has brought forward hit songs for the 2020s, and gave the original “Go-Go Club Riddim” new life. This week, it is a part of war as Dancehall divas Stefflon Don and Jada Kingdom‘s beef has taken a different turn. While you will not get all the details over here to how it got started, we know this was long overdue. After a series of subliminal shots, Stefflon Don steps out with the first attack called, “Dat A Dat“.

With no time to waste, Stefflon Don gets aggressive on “Dat A Dat”. With her sights set on her target, she stays in her attacking formation throughout, and listeners will be entertained, egging on her opponent to answer with her own diss track. Sting may be over, but 2024 made way for a cat fight. Not many expected this, but only time will tell how much further this beef will escalate. Stay tuned.

Jeff Fullyauto Deals With A Few Battles In “Wither Away”

When it comes to life, it’s the greatest thing, but it isn’t without its challenges. Some overcome, while others are in a continuous battle. Dancehall Artist Jeff Fullyauto has his share of troubles, and he talks about them in the video for the single, “Wither Away“.

Directed by Jojoink Designs and Ghost Studios and shot in Mandeville and at Duppy Church in Mile Gully, Manchester, Jeff Fullyauto takes a seat to share his thoughts in “Wither Away”. He doesn’t hide the fact that he’s troubled, he’s battling demons, and is seeking a way that’s greater than his current situation. The Jungle Jesus Entertainment-production provides the right sound for the Deejay’s lyrics, and we get visuals that suggest the troubles that the Deejay experiences. It’s enough for some to take things to a different turn, but Jeff has the belief that his solution is near. Take it one day at a time.

OLDIES SUNDAY: Vibes Cartel – Drive By (1999)

It’s the first “Oldies Sunday” entry of 2024! We hope to put you on to many more classic tunes and underrated tunes from back in the day. Today, we celebrate the birthday of a Dancehall legend named Vybz Kartel. But before he became the Icon we know today, he was known as an upcoming Artist named Addi Banton, who along with Mr. Lee and Escobar, were a part of group in the mid-1990s called, Vibes Cartel. We highlight their track, “Drive By“.

Produced by Computer Paul on the “Scorpion Riddim“, this was released through Boot Camp Records in 1999. The track features melodies, some badman lyrics, and a different kind of energy as the group deejays about not taking disrespect from anyone, being superior to anyone out, and emphasizing that they will retaliate when threats come their way. “Drive By” quickly became a known track, and it received a lot of airplay in Jamaica (Editor’s note: I remember hearing about “Vibes Cartel” on FAME FM (big up Alrick & Boyd), and I believe this was the track that was making its rounds.). The group also made its name be known throughout Jamaica through a series of live performances, bringing lyrics and a striking presence that stood out every time.

Since the release of “Drive By”, the Vibes Cartel group disbanded soon after. Mr. Lee and Escobar went on to pursue other endeavours, while Addi Banton made his name writing for a few Dancehall Artists including Bounty Killa who took him under his wing, and becoming a solo Artist. Addi kept the Vibes Cartel name, made some modifications, and became the Dancehall Enigma known forever as, Vybz Kartel. Mr. Lee made a few attempts as a solo Artist, going under the name Tsunami 1876. Escobar made musical efforts during and after Vibes Cartel, and even recorded a number of tracks with Vybz throughout the 2000s. While many know of Vybz Kartel who celebrates his 48th birthday today, not many know of Vibes Cartel. Here’s a little bit of History.

Nigy Boy Releases Highly-Anticipated Single, “Continent”

He has been called the new Jamaican Ray Charles, the new Jamaican Stevie Wonder, and Dexta Daps’ brother (lol), but he’s known to everyone else as Nigy Boy with the golden voice. He emerged on the entertainment scene years ago with his captivating vocals and made his official debut in 2021, but many were wondering why he wasn’t a bigger name. That is all to change this year as he steps out with what could be his breakout hit, the highly-anticipated “Continent“.

Produced by Rvssian on the popular “Dutty Money Riddim“, Nigy Boy speaks on being global Gyalis on “Continent”. With lyrics about his love for the ladies all over the world, he lets them know that he has enough for all of them as “sharing is caring“. He may not have the gift of sight, but when it comes to the lovely ladies, we can see his vision is 20/20. Accompanying the single, is a music video directed by Rizzy for Now Or Never, and it finds Nigy in various rooms including a classroom getting close with the ladies. Nigy Boy is the latest Artist to receive authorization by Rvssian to voice on the “Dutty Money Riddim” after going viral with his lyrics over the beat. With his name being a part of the conversation, we can expect even more from him this year.
