Jahmiel, Elton Earlington & More Took Over Mandeville At The @OPD_Jamaica Roadshow

On Thursday April 17, The Office Of The Public Defender (OPD) held their Mandeville leg of their Roadshow. The organization celebrates 25 years of service, and the Roadshow was made to reintroduce the company to the public, as well as secure new clients. The event was hosted by Dufton Shepherd along with Richie B, who hosted via his Radio show on Richie B Radio/Bess FM 100, featured a number of presentations, and musical exhibitions by the likes of Gospel Artist Chantal Smalling-Stephenson, Reggae Artist Dinho, students of The Belair High School, Digicel Rising Stars 2016 Winner and member of “FYAH” Elton Earlington, and Recording Artist Jahmiel. We went live on TikTok to capture some of the event, and below you can check out the highlights.

Where are the Beauty Content Creators? Where are the Makeup Addicts? On April 10, Jamaica officially got added to the list of Islands that exclusively sells Rihanna’s Fenty Beauty line. Held at the Fontana Pharmacy at their Waterloo branch in Kingston, the official retailer, the beauty line includes an assortment of makeup products, and skin products under the “Fenty Skin” brand. The collection was launched under Fontana’s “Ora by Fontana” department, and many got to see firsthand some new goodies. Hosted by Social Media Personality Rushcam, Fontana was packed with fans of Fenty Beauty and Rihanna, hoping to not only get their hands on some new products, but be surprised by an appearance by the Bajan Popstar, who many believed was on the Island. The event was attended by many Social Media/Internet Influencers and Personalities, and there were demonstrations by some of the best Caribbean Makeup Artists out along with giveaways and exclusive deals. On the night of Friday January 24, the Parish of Manchester was the stage for Deejays and Singers to perform at the first staging of the “Born To Shine Talent Search“. Organized by Texroy Elliott and the Born To Shine Committee and held at the Mandeville Primary & Jnr High School, a lot of potential stars showed up to secure the ultimate prize, $1 Million in cash, and a Record Deal. Judges for the event consisted of Producers DJ Mac and Steel Chest, Selector/Media Personality/Producer ZJ Sparks, and Dancehall Icon Bounty Killa, and over 100 Artists participated at the event. In the end, three Artists emerged in Dawk9ine, TrapKween, and Spikey, and Spikey took home the winnings. Before the winner was picked however, Dancehall Artists Fresh King, XKappe, Kraff, and Bounty Killa performed for the people.

On the first day of 2025, Manchester, Jamaica welcomed the first staging of the “Manchester Food & Drink Festival“. Held on the grounds of Brooks Park in Mandeville, there was food, there were Vendors with various items for sale, there was live entertainment by the DJs and local performers Betty YM/Bettydan and Mexi Kaano, and something for the kids in the form of Bounce-A-Bouts, swings, karts, scooters, and trampolines! The event had a small late start, but the weather stayed bright and well to host a few hours of time with friends, family, and food.

We covered a bit of the day’s activities in our new video. Thanks to the organizers of the “Manchester Food & Drink Festival” including Di Village Jamaica, the Sponsors who helped to make it happen, and everyone who attended from young to old. May the next staging be an even bigger event.

Missed @ReggaeSting 2023? Check Out Some Highlights

On December 26 in Jamaica, two things are celebrated. Boxing Day is the main one, and “The greatest one night Reggae and Dancehall show on Earth” a.k.a. “Sting“. This year marks the event’s 40th year, and the lineup looked to be one for the books. Though it had some setbacks in the past couple years, 2022 saw its return to the stage in St. Ann, but this year saw its return to the original venue of the Jamworld Entertainment Complex in Portmore, St. Catherine. For those who were not able to attend live or check it out online, we have a few highlights for you.

Sting 2023 brought out some of the giants in Reggae and Dancehall, and made way for emerging talent, which allowed many to experience that stage for the first time ever. Sting is also famous for its clashes, and a few acts fired off warning shots and scathing bars during. While we won’t reveal a whole lot, we invite you to tune in, and be entertained. Will Sting return for 2024? Maybe, but we hope it’s better in every way possible. Big up (Isaiah) Laing.

On Saturday November 4, the Anime Nerds Of Jamaica (ANJ) held their 4th installment of the “Maid & Butler Cafe” event. Held at the Struan Castle Gardens in St. Andrew, it was an event like no other as attendees experienced a taste of Pop Culture, Anime, food, fun, Cosplaying, and friendship. Ticket holders would experience top service by the likes of the various maids and butlers, all while treating themselves to various activities, gifts, and an escape from the busy city life. The event was sponsored by various vendors and corporate brands, and was a success.

We stopped by the “Maid & Butler Cafe” event, and caught some highlights featuring some of your favourite Cosplayers, a few activities, and some stuff that you missed out on if you didn’t get to attend. Don’t worry if you missed it, ANJ will be hosting another one in a few months.
