Bad Bunny Makes History At Super Bowl LX Performance

Fresh from creating History at the 68th annual GRAMMY Awards on February 1, Puerto Rican star Bad Bunny doubles up with his appearance at the Super Bowl LX/Apple Music Halftime Show. Since its announcement in 2025, Bad Bunny has been met with praises, but was also met with negative feedback from Conservatives in the US, with threats and shady remarks daily on Social and traditional Media. Despite it all, the Artist holds the spot for being the first Artist to perform primarily in Spanish, and what a time was had.

Bad Bunny entered with that Puerto Rican energy, and a load of culture as he kicked off his set with a series of tracks from his growing catalogue. Joined by a Band, a few Dancers, and a couple that got married on the set, he made a statement throughout his performance, highlighted elements of Puerto Rican life locally and overseas, brought out Lady Gaga, Karol G, Jessica Alba, Cardi B, Pedro Pascal, Ricky Martin, and his GRAMMY award, and performed tracks like “Yo Perreo Sola“, “Monaco“, “DtMF“, “EoO“, “NUEVAYoL“, and “Tití Me Preguntó” before shouting out North America, Central America, and South America in closing. He did it for the culture, and negative forces couldn’t stop it. Salute Bad Bunny! The only thing more powerful than hate, is love.

OLDIES SUNDAY: Perfect Giddimani – Hand Cart Bwoy (2004)

Reggae is a music of love, and before the Valentine’s Day weekend, we thought we’d not only celebrate love, but celebrate the versatility of Reggae being it is Reggae Month on “Oldies Sunday“. For today’s selection, we go back in time to check out Perfect Giddimani’sHand Cart Bwoy“.

Produced by Rebel Chris for Rebel Musik in 2004, it’s all about two different world finding that love, and becoming a union in Perfect Giddimani’s “Hand Cart Bwoy”. Perfect shares his upbringing to one that’s not rich in wealth, but in love, and his chance meeting with a Woman who may have come from a more privileged place. They instantly clicked, and despite their backgrounds, they’ve managed to share love, and build a companionship that comes right out of the Romance novels. It’s the kind of love that’s not based on what you have, it’s your character, something that’s missing in a lot of relationships today. “Hand Cart Bwoy” was an instant hit for Perfect, and found its way to connect with many on the International market. The song would later be featured on his 2006 debut album, “Giddimani“. “Hand Cart Bwoy” was sampled by Cutthroat Mode in 2017 for a song of the same name.

Since the release of “Hand Cart Bwoy”, Perfect Giddimani continued to enjoy a career with a few more hits, and has been a touring Artist for a number of years. “Hand Cart Bwoy” remains one of his biggest songs, and is one to play for the lovers.

THANK YOU PERFECT GIDDIMANI FOR THIS CLASSIC!

Wynta Is Here To Stay, Drops New Single, “Bredda”

The first half of the 2020s opened to door to a number of Artists who would take on Dancehall/Reggae with unique sounds, and movements that would grow over time. One of those Artists was a Teenager named, Wynta. Despite his age, his determination and skillset caught the attention of many, and while that breakout single has yet to come, he’s building his foundation with a number of singles. He compares himself to a World-Class Chef, crafting his work with great precision, and with singles like “Rich Rock“, “Ghetto Currency“, “16 And Bad“, “Mula“, “Dats Code“, and “The Banga“, his name is steadily making its rounds locally. The themes in his music may tap into the fast life that many are accustomed to in Jamaica, but he has other sides to him that bring out the fun side to listeners, and grab the attention of his Female audience. While many have crashed and burned before reaching to the 1st half of the 2020s, Wynta is ready to embrace the 2nd with new music, and more growth. He recently released the new single, “Bredda“.

Produced by TopRanks, Wynta gives us a song about loyalty with the release of, “Bredda”. With his mind on family, he drops a track to show love to his brethren who have been there in his darkest and lowest times, and there in his best of times. The theme of brotherly love sometimes gets lost in the sea of songs about fake friends and “badmind“, and the Deejay takes the time out to present something positive. The ladies will always be there, but family is forever. While the sentiments are there, he reminds listeners that if any harm comes to his brothers, there will be repercussions. You can pick your friends, but you can’t pick family. In the end, the real ones will be there for you. A music video for “Bredda” is in the works, and in the following months we should expect the Deejay’s first official project to be released through TopRanks Ent..

“Wynta is a young and talented Dancehall Artist emerging from the rough streets of Jamaica, carrying a voice, a vision, and a drive that sets him apart from the crowd. His work ethic is commendable as we currently have over 100 unreleased tracks, and we’re taking the time to fully develop his craft, and build him to be an all-around Artist. For the time he has been a part of TopRanks Ent., we are hopeful that his impact will be great, and the work will not be done in vain. His journey hasn’t been easy, but he embraces the belief that life becomes what you make it, and he’s determined to “Cook like a world‑class Chef” in the music Industry.” – TopRanks, Producer/CEO TopRanks Ent.

Jah Cure & T.O.K Sampled On New @JColeNC Album, “The Fall-Off”

New music is in the air, and many are breathing it all in now. American Rapper/Producer J. Cole earlier released his long-awaited album, “The Fall-Off“. The new album serves as his supposed final project, and is chock full of selections for the fans, and music lovers. The double disc covers various aspects of his life and music career, but there are familiar sounds featured throughout.

On the track, “Only You“, a track featuring Burna Boy and features production from T-Minus, DZL, and Luca Mauti, J. Cole raps about Fatherhood, the trial and tribulations of a long-term relationship, and the negative effects that can come from success. The track taps into a variety of sounds, but particularly tapped into something from Jamaica. “Only You” sampled Jah Cure’sLonging For“, and T.O.K’sFootprints” from the “Drop Leaf Riddim“. Released in 2004 and produced by Don Corleon a.k.a. Donovan Bennett for Don Corleon Records, “Longing For” was one of Jah Cure’s most successful releases while “Footprints” became one of T.O.K’s top crossover singles in the 2000s.

Jah Cure was incarcerated during the release of “Longing For”, and the track built heavy anticipation for the Singer locally and Internationally. It was later featured on his 2005 album “True Reflections…A New Beginning“. J. Cole’s “Only You” title borrows a lyric from the track as well. “Footprints” found T.O.K at the top of their game. The group that consisted of Alex, Bay-C, Craigy T, and Flexx eyed more International looks, the 2000s was good to them. “Footprints” gained Islandwide appeal, but when the music video premiered on US channels BET and MTV, the single secured a sizable part of the International market, and would be a mainstay for years to come. “Footprints” was featured on the group’s 2005 album, “Unknown Language“. Don Corleon’s “Drop Leaf Riddim” remains one of his most successful Riddims, and the 2004 release featured tracks from Bounty Killa, Morgan Heritage, Sizzla, Tanya Stephens, Gentleman, Luciano, Maxi Priest, and more.

J. Cole’s new album, “The Fall-Off” is out now.

Joby Jay "Fighter" on 13thStreetPromotions.com #Jamaica #Reggae #Music #13thStreetPromotions #JobyJay #Fighter #MarkAnthonyReid #MARMusic #BobMarley #Caribbean

.@JobyJayMusic Shows Resilience On Powerful New Single, “Fighter”

Reggae Music was always rebellious. It rebelled against society, called for more consciousness, and fought against oppression and practitioners of it. Bob Marley was one of the genre’s biggest Ambassadors who called for liberation of the people, encouraged them to be resilient against the powers of evil, and his work continues to inspire generations. Recording Artist Joby Jay is one of those Artists who cites Marley as one of her inspirations. She channels him on his birthday with the release of, “Fighter“.

Produced by Mark-Anthony Reid for MAR Music, Joby Jay shares an anthem of self-liberation, mental strength, resilience, and defiance against the oppressors in, “Fighter”. Joby has observed the way the world has been running and what people have been experiencing, and she gets vulnerable here showing her battle scars, her determination to overcome and heal, and her substantial growth through it all. The song serves as encouragement for listeners to stand for what’s right, and fight, wherever they may be in the world. In the darkest of times, we need the music to help us survive, help us thrive, and help us overcome all that aim to keep us in the dark. Let Joby Jay be the voice to bring back that light. Fans of the Singer can catch her performing at the “Lost In Time Festival” on February 28 at Hope Gardens, Kingston where she shares the stage with Protoje, Tanya Stephens, Lila Ike, and more. This one is for the rebels.
