Nile SNL Fulfills Ladies’ Desires With “Jerk” Single

Earlier this year, Recording Artist Nile SNL released his debut project, “Cold Nights & Fever Dreams“. Since then, he has been busy in the Studio ensuring that he has more music for the people to get familiar with this Summer. With that said, he recently premiered the new single, “Jerk“.

Produced by Mahfia Made It and released through Catalog Music Group, Nile SNL aims for the ladies with the new single, “Jerk”. Armed with a smooth delivery, he shares some flirty lyrics throughout, and while some Women may find his approach a little offensive, they’re quick to label him a jerk. Despite that however, he is their guilty pleasure, and he fulfills their desires. The single has been gaining attention on Social Media since its release, and a music video is believed to be on the way for it. He is also working on follow up content in support of “Cold Nights & Fever Dreams”, and you can stay tuned for that.

OLDIES SUNDAY: Imagination – Just An Illusion (1982)

June 22 is recognized in the UK as “Windrush Day“. “Windrush” refers to the generation of African-Caribbean people who emigrated to the UK post World War II (WWII) to assist with recovery efforts, and much more. “Windrush” also refers to the HMT Windrush Empire Ship that transported these migrants. June 22 is a day that honours that generation, and was introduced in 2018 by British Social Commentator/Political Activist of Jamaican heritage, Patrick Vernon. Today on “Oldies Sunday“, we want to highlight music from the children of the “Windrush Generation“. We go back to the 80s to check out UK band Imagination, and their single, “Just An Illusion“.

Produced by Tony Swain and Steven Jolley, a.k.a. Jolley & Swain, and released through R&B Records in 1982, “Just An Illusion” was a song about having a need to experience things and situations that were just dreams before. The Funk/R&B single featured harmonizing notes, solid production that instantly grabbed the listener, and a vibe that had everyone dancing. Comprised of Leee John, Errol Kennedy, and Ashley Ingram, these were children of the “Windrush Generation” whose parents emigrated from Jamaica (Kennedy was born there), and St. Lucia (Leee John). “Just An Illusion” became the biggest hit for Imagination, climbing to the #2 spot on the UK Singles chart, topping the charts in Spain, and becoming top ten hits in France, Ireland, The Netherlands, Sweden, Switzerland, Austria, and West Germany. The single also enjoyed Gold and Silver certifications, and was included in the soundtrack for the 1986 Film, “F/X“, along with their 1982 album, “In The Heat Of The Night“. “Just An Illusion” would later be sampled by P.M. Dawn, Mariah Carey, The Pharcyde, Destiny’s Child, and Cormega.

Since the release of “Just An Illusion”, Imagination would go on to enjoy some more success with the release of more music. The band would split in 1987 and include new members, but their popularity decreased, and they called it quits in 1992 after releasing their final album. Leee John would go into acting, Ashley Ingram would enjoy success as a Songwriter, and Errol Kennedy would perform under a new version of Imagination named ImagiNation feat. Errol Kennedy. The “Windrush Generation” introduced new cultures and sounds to Europe, and children of that generation like members of Imagination, would help to boost the musical economy.

Ma-La Keeps It Locked And Loaded In “Kingston 13 Warm”

Dancehall Music has always been the sound to bring the vibe to the scene, but it has also been the vessel where many share the happenings in the streets. The streets are at times filled with fearful nights and frightening moments, but many have survived these dark times, and went on to live fulfilling lives. Upcoming Dancehall Artist Ma-La has experienced some of these times, and he shares a bit in, “Kingston 13 Warm“.

Produced by True Game Entertainment and Bup Bup Recordz, Ma-La keeps his ear to the streets, and is ready for whatever is against him in “Kingston 13 Warm”. The Deejay paints a picture of how crazy it can get there, and when it is needed, he has the right tools to handle any situation. Armed with a menacing production, Ma-La’s gritty lyrics pair well with it, and aims to keep listeners in their seats. True Game Ent. and Bup Bup Recordz have been on the scene for a number of years, and have contributed their respective sounds to various upcoming and established names. Ma-La is one of their latest recruits, and they believe he will hold a significant spot in Dancehall as he grows his catalogue. Stay cautious in the streets.

Dancehall Artist Kraff has been enjoying his status as one of the top Artists out. With a persona that is sometimes shrouded in mystery, his music has connected with the people in various ways. His content is at times gothic and dark, but it gets the people going. Having announced a number of projects over some time, he finally keeps his promise with one of them. Recently, he released the EP, “Fuel“.

Despite what the Weather was yesterday, Summer is upon us, and the party season is looking to be a very fun one. With that said, a flurry of singles are being released, and are expected to stay in rotation through the season, and the rest of the year. Prince Guava o/c Guava throws his hat in the ring with the new single, “Miss Little N Cute“.

Produced by Steel Chest, Guava calls out all the sexy ladies in “Miss Little N Cute”. Inspired by Admiral Bailey’s “Gimme Punanny” hit single from 1986, the Deejay seeks the one who possesses the “Glimmity Glammity“, and knows how to have a good time with him. Steel Chest’s production also borrows from a classic sound, and with catchy lyrics, “Miss Little N Cute” is expected to hit the streets in a big way this Summer. At this point, Promoters need to book Guava as he has enough music to amplify the party. He is still pushing out Comedic content, but you need to get familiar with his music, like his “Energy” EP that was released this year. Tune in!
