OLDIES SUNDAY: Ding Dong – Badman Forward, Badman Pull Up (2006)

It’s Sunday, and it’s time for a throwback. Today’s “Oldies Sunday” entry celebrates dancing, and this Artist one of the many in Dancehall who emphasized on the dance culture. Some know him as Kemar, but many know him as Ding Dong, and we look back at his track, “Badman Forward, Badman Pull Up“.

Produced by Rohan “Tallman” Gray on the “Badman Forward Riddim” and released through VP Records/Future Vibez Productions in 2006, Ding Dong brought communities together with the release of, “Badman Forward, Badman Pull Up”. With a catchy chorus over a strong Dancehall production, Ding Dong had everyone from the gangsters to the civilians doing a dance in relation to the track. “Badman Forward” was one of Ding’s first entries as a Dancehall Artist as he made his name in the streets as a Dancer, creating various moves that gained popularity. “Badman Forward” quickly gained traction, and became one of his breakout hits, and becoming a mainstay in the street dances. It would go on to gain International recognition, especially at the Caribbean parties.

Since the release of “Badman Forward, Badman Pull Up”, Ding Dong would go on to become an International name. He scored a number of hit singles over the years, created dances, and collaborated with some of the best in the business. He is currently gearing up to release his long-awaited debut Album, “From Ding Dong, To World Ding” in May, which aims to expand on his artistry. “Badman Forward, Badman Pull Up” remains one of his biggest hits.
