Jamaica’s newest generation of creatives continue to make a mark on the music scene. Whether they’re breaking barriers or making historical moves, the world is tuned in and ready to give its support. Two of those creatives making big moves are Blvk H3ro, and Leno Banton as they’ve joined the legendary UK Reggae band UB40 on their 21st studio album, “Bigga Baggariddim“.
While reports of the collaborations came about from as early as 2018, UB40 gave fans a taste of what’s to come through their recent “UBZoomy” livestreams. UB40, whose hits include “Kingston Town“, “Red Red Wine“, and “Can’t Help Falling In Love“, have previously collaborated with Jamaican acts like Lady Saw, Maxi Priest, Dillinger, Kabaka Pyramid, and Inner Circle in addition to covering many more. This marks Leno Banton’s first collaboration with the band, and the second for Blvk H3ro as he previously appeared on the Dub version of their “For The Many” album in 2019. Banton, who recently released “Brown Sugar” and appeared on Wavy Jones’ “Sine Energy” EP, is gearing up to release more singles for the rest of 2020, and is working on a full length project. Blvk H3ro on the other hand, has been staying very busy throughout the year as he released various singles, collaborated with the likes of Wavy Jones, Wayne J, Skillibeng, King Izem, and Di Ruption, and is working on a follow up to his 2019 debut album, “The Immortal Steppa“.
Jamaica’s new generation of artists have been brewing something crazy over the past few years. No matter your taste or genre, this talented bunch continues to break barriers and give the world a new sound. Producer Wavy Jones, who has been one of the folks doing his part in ushering in a new wave, has been steadily making his sounds be heard in various parts of the world. Today, he invites you all to experience a dose of “Sine Energy” from his new EP.
Released through In Good Company and comprised of 6 tracks, Wavy Jones creates a space for for some beautiful sounds paired with some individuals who stand out when they express their art. With Leno Banton, Mila.Akilah, Blvk H3ro, Jeeby, Shawn J. Smith, Kione Zaire, Dxcape, and Ramia onboard, this EP is guaranteed to be your favourite this year. After giving listeners a dose with “Ketch Di Pree” earlier this year, expect nuff more niceness when you press play on the whole project. Knowing Wavy Jones, he has a lot more clips in the chamber, so for now, immerse yourself in some “Sine Energy”. The project is available everywhere from Soundcloud (below), to Bandcamp, to all your favourite digital streaming platforms!
Blvk H3ro and Wayne J believed they found a hit when they released their “Young Boss” collab earlier this year. With the track receiving steady airplay and a music video doing well, it was only right they gave the single even more life. With that in mind, they recruited one of Dancehall’s newest wordsmiths in Skillibeng for the “Young Boss (Remix)“!
With Bouchard F. Olivier and Dennis “Greatest” Hamilton’s production still doing its thing here, the trio joined forces to give a song that continues to motivate the youth to get on their grind, and make amazing things happen in the world. With the wordplay from “Mr. Universe“, the melodies from “The Immortal Steppa“, and the energy from the new “Youngest Veteran“, speakers everywhere will be pounding the “Young Boss (Remix)” for a long time to come.
