Rani Rastaciti Turns Police Encounter Into “Black Belt” Single

Over the weekend, Dancehall Artist Rani Rastaciti had an encounter with the Police. During his travels, he was stopped by some Officers in Manchester. What could’ve been a routine stop turned into a moment for the Deejay, and fans of the Deejay witnessed the scenario via his TikTok livestream. Fresh off of the ordeal, he turned it into a song called, “Black Belt“.

Produced by Chippy Beatz Recordz/Giva Damn Records, Rani Rastaciti relives his encounter with the Police in, “Black Belt”. He also paints the picture of the incident going into another direction, and it sounds like something out of an action movie. The Deejay has been enjoying success throughout the year, including a few viral moments. The Police and Jamaican Entertainers are always at odds, and Rani’s incident is just another day in the series. It’s good that this didn’t turn into an arrest, or violence. Rani can have a laugh today, and make content out of it. Stay alert as always.

Xkappe Cooks Up With “Bravery”

Manchester-based Dancehall Artist Xkappe has been picking up some steam over the past few weeks, and his catalogue has been doing numbers. Thanks to a few live performances and Media appearances, the Deejay looks to dominate the scene just like his fellow peers from the Parish. His work has been cut out for him, and he’s cooking up something. He recently released, “Bravery“.

Produced by Ducati Entertainment/Monster Rat Records/Sin Di Kid Entertainment and inspiration from the popular “Hush Little Baby” lullaby for the hook, Xkappe is on the hustle in “Bravery”. While he keeps the music going, he still speaks for those who get to the money through other means, because poverty is a crime. At the end of the day, it’s all about garnering that life-changing success. The Deejay takes it to Mandeville with his peeps in a music video directed by Ghost Studios/Jojoink Designs. Tony Matterhorn’s “Dutty Wine” Sampled On @RoyWoods’ New “X” Album

Jamaica has been the topic of discussion these past few days. From celebrating her 64th Independence, to New York hosting its first Jamaica-themed day parade, to her exports making things happen in music, sports and more, Jamaica is always a vibe. Toronto Recording Artist Roy Woods knows she’s a vibe as well. Recently, he released his latest album, “X“. Released through Drake’s OVO Sound, the Singer looks to take back his spot with 10 new tracks that aim to keep the listener in a groove. Having a Caribbean background, he tapped into a sound for one of the tracks, and many of us would instantly recognize it.

On track 7 of Roy Woods’ new “X” album called “Set Fire“, Dancehall Selector/Recording Artist Tony Matterhorn’s classic single “Dutty Wine” was sampled. Produced by Di Genius, a sample of the track’s Instrumental dominates the uptempo selection along with references to the “Dutty Wine” dance and lyrics. “Dutty Wine” was produced by SupaHype on the “Smash Riddim” and released through Hyperactive Entertainment in 2006, and is Tony Matterhorn’s most successful single as it broke ground on the International market, and never left. The dance caused quite the controversy over the years, but was adopted by many, including US Recording Artist Beyonce, who performed in a number of her routines.

Roy Woods’ “X” album is out now.

OLDIES SUNDAY: Louie Lepkie – Fi We Country (1982)

August 6 is recognized as Jamaica’s Independence Day. On that day in 1962, Jamaica made the separation from being a British colony, to being its own Country. We’re still celebrating 64 years later, and on “Oldies Sunday“, we bring you the music that taps into that vibe. We go back in time to check out Louie Lepkie’sFi We Country“.

Produced by Niney The Observer on the “Heavenless Riddim” and released through Hit Bound/Channel One Records in 1982, Louie Lepkie paid tribute to his Island home in, “Fi We Country”. Listeners then would enjoy the references to some of the Jamaican products and resources, including the then JBC TV, the Nation’s official Television station which is now known as Television Jamaica (TVJ), and shouting out the late Bob Marley and the late Barry G. “Fi We Country” gained attention when it was released, and was well-received. The track was featured on Lepkie’s 1982 album “Willie Red“.

Since the release of “Fi We Country”, Louie Lepkie went on to release more music, and perform with various Sound Systems. He would tragically lose his life in 1987 in New York, but his music would live on. Many still remember “Fi We Country”, and many of his other releases.

THANK YOU LOUIE LEPKIE FOR THIS HIT!
