The “World Boss” is really living up his role as one of the hardest working Deejays despite his current situation. Earlier, the good folks at Major Lazer unleashed a special remix of the Nicki Minaj and PartyNextDoor featured “Run Up” with vocals from Vybz Kartel! Kicking it off with “Gaza Nation!“, Kartel goes into overdrive as he gives the ladies the lyrics that will have them clinging on to him like magnet to steel. He also made reference to having fun at the popular Summer Party series, Dream Weekend. A single that has had its share of remixes (including a Konshens Remix, and one by Dancehall Artist Khxos), but of course a Vybz Kartel version will make its rounds in various parties. Mi chain have so much Karat (Carrot), like me murda Bugs Bunny! Listen to the track below.
Music genres, nations, and personalities clashed in the latest staging of the Red Bull Culture Clash on August 25! Held today at 787 Windsor in Atlanta, Georgia, we got to witness the clash of a few titans in numerous rounds of “Tune fi tune, dub fi dub” Sound System sparring. Featuring “Team Unruly” which was lead by Dancehall Artist Popcaan (who was unfortunately absent), “Disturbing LDN” which was lead by Recording Artist Tinie Tempah, “Enjoy Life” which was lead by Producer WondaGurl, and “Ear Drummers” which was lead by Producer MikeWillMadeIt. Lots of surprises and upsets in this session, but if you missed it, don’t worry! Check out the repeat below, and enjoy!
It’s the final day of the Independence Weekend, have you had any fun yet? No? Then start a lil party in your residence with Chromatic! Dropping a new tune today is Canada based Rapper, Solyd Roy! Titled “Cruff Daddy“, the Kingston born Rapper shows listeners what he can do over this head banging Production. While he brags a little on the track, he also showcases his ability to handle the beat and let you know that he’s someone to watch out for. “I feel like this song was just me reintroducing myself to the HipHop scene as best as possible. I obviously had fun writing and recording the track, but at the end of the day, I just wanted the song to paint the perfect image of who I am musically,” said the Rapper. As the Hip Hop movement continues to rise in Jamaica, many members have taken it across the seas and even influenced other emerging and established acts. This is Stephen and Damian Marley mixed with some Kanye, rock to this! Check out the track below and share your thoughts in the comments section.
Our Jamaican culture continues to be undefeated when it comes to influencing music. Canadian Recording Artist Big Lean is one of those who embraced the culture and made it a part of the music. Born to Jamaican Immigrants, he has been making noise for some time. Recently he premiered his single and music video, “Stamina“. Directed by Zac Facts, Big Lean shares a little of his “Yardie” side and speaks on his Mom wanting Grandkids, shows off that he can “Handle di wuk” once he downs a Dragon Stout, instructs his lady to “wine pon di ting“, is a “Gallis inna real life” and states “Me likkle but me tallawah“. With Producer Sevn Thomas handling the beat, this makes to be an easy going listen from Big Lean. Something to grab a gal and slow wine with. A so yuh fi wine baby!
