August 22 was celebrated as the 62nd birthday for the late Dancer/Recording Artist Gerald “Bogle” Levy. When Bogle stepped out with his crew, the dance gets nicer as unique moves would make their debut, and the world would catch on. When he started recording music, he made statements. Today on “Oldies Sunday“, we go back in time to check out, “All Dem Deh“.
Released by LA Lewis for Success Records in 2004 and later Hights Production, Bogle dismissed people who were never genuine in his journey in, “All Dem Deh”. The track was recognized as a diss to fellow Dancer John Hype, who was a former member of the “Black Roses Crew” collective. The track came shortly after Hype formed his own dance crew to rival Black Roses, and caused a rift on the scene. Production varied on “All Dem Deh”, but it was popular at the time. The song would appear over the Instrumental to Rapper Snoop Dogg’s “Drop It Like It’s Hot“, and Rapper Jadakiss’ “Why“. The song was premiered at a number of street events, and was answered by John Hype shortly. It would later be released on “A Tribute To Bogle” in 2005 through Success Records.
Since the release of “All Dem Deh”, Bogle would maintain a presence in Dancehall. Dancing since a child, he emerged in the late 80s Dancehall scene creating new dances. His skills would earn him a solid reputation, and his dances would be the basis for many hit singles and endorsements. Sadly, Bogle would be gunned down in early 2005 after an altercation. As Dancehall group Voicemail said it, “Mr. Wacky (one of Bogle’s aliases) is gone, but his dancing lives on…“, and tributes in various forms continue for him over 21 years later. Bogle is remembered for many of his catchphrases that would appear on songs, and “All Dem Deh” is still one many would reflect on.
