Charly Black Promoted Unity With Star-Studded “One Chance” Festival In Manchester

On Saturday December 14, the Parish of Manchester was treated to a night of great performances thanks to the first staging of the “One Chance” Music Festival. Hosted by Dancehall Artist Charly Black, DJ Marvin, and Unstoppable Entertainment and held at the parking lot of Toast Restaurant & Gelato, the “One Chance” Music Festival was made to promote unity in Jamaican music and society, bring together a number of established and rising stars, and bring more specialized entertainment events in Manchester. Despite the late start for performances, patrons were treated to the selections from the likes of Bass Odyssey, DJ Sherlock, and ZJ Liquid, and those who needed something extra could grab a soup, boxed food, and a beverage of their choice nearby.

When it was time for the performances, the early segment gave way to a number of Mandeville-based Reggae/Dancehall Artists on the rise who displayed some of their best work. It was then followed by performances by the Tower Band who provided musical backing for Charly Black, who soon after brought on stage Yaksta, Yaadcore, Neeqah, Denyque, and X-Kappe, who brought along a number of his Artists. The first staging of the “One Chance” Music Festival showed that Music Festival deserves to be held in the Parish, and we look forward to a bigger, better event in 2025.

Manchester-based Dancehall Artist Kacique has been building on his brand for the better part of 2024. With a number of singles out, he has been keeping his lyrical sword sharp, and welcoming more members to be a part of his movement. Some say he’s underrated, while others are awaiting his major breakout. Until then, he continues to be a “Problem” for his enemies.

Produced by OneSpinn/Kaboom Music/The CarZilla Effect, Kacique is busy getting to the money, and continues to elevate over all who wish for his downfall in “Problem”. Still armed with a powerful flow, his focus remains as strong as ever, and for those who think they can stand in his way, he has something to take care of that. “Problem” is one of a number of singles the Deejay has on his release schedule for the rest of the year, and the followup to his “Somerset” EP will see its release in 2025. Manchester To Offer Unique Cuisine & More With Upcoming Food & Drink Festival

2024 has been a year for big events. Whatever your taste was, the Island had an event to accommodate you. While many big events are held in the Island’s capital of Kingston, there have complaints and suggestions to give the other Parishes a chance to host. The Parish of Manchester, where the city life collides with the country life, has been one of the spots that seeks to provide a home to many special events. Next year, it will launch its own Food & Drink Festival.

Organized by Di Village and held at Brooks Park in Mandeville, the “Manchester Food & Drink Festival” aims to introduce a variety of unique cuisine to the public, provide a platform for the upcoming and seasoned Chef, host live entertainment, and amplify the message that the Parish of Manchester is very capable of hosting some of the Island’s best events. With the construction of the Southern Coastal Highway, transportation has been made easier, making the Parish a central hotspot. The Festival was announced earlier this year, and the Organizers have been on the road spreading awareness of the event, inviting Vendors and Sponsors to make their contributions to the event, and adding the finishing touches for the big day. Olivia Coley, a member of the organizing team, has been making connections with various Schools in the Parish, giving students with Culinary ambitions to showcase their talent through a series of events at the Festival. She looks forward to great support from not only Manchester, but the rest of Jamaica, and hopes to make it a yearly family event.

For the foodies, food lovers, and Festival seekers, the “Manchester Food & Drink Festival” welcomes you on Wednesday, January 1 at Brooks Park, Mandeville from 1 P.M. to 10 P.M.. You can pay at the gate to attend, and they range from $2000 for Adults, $1000 for the 10-17 age group, while kids enter free. If you wish to secure tickets, “Dealz N Tings” at Grove Court (Mandeville), and “Water Drops Waterstore” at the Central Dealers Mall (Formerly Caledonia Mall in Mandeville) are the outlets to get them. In a time where there are external and internal wars going on around the world, it takes some great people to step forward and lead the people into the light. Many have taken the stance, including Manchester-based Recording Artist/Producer Abka Kaba. He wishes for the world to be a better place, but it takes something powerful to make it happen. He contributes to that with, “Behold“.

Released through Roots N Creations Records on the previously-released “360 Riddim”, Abka Kaba utilizes his platform to promote change in “Behold”. Over some solid production, he calls for peace, love, and unity in this world that is filled with conflict. The time has come for the real ones to stand up, and make a stop to the madness out there. Extending his creativity, Abka released a Music Video for the single. Along with his Kahinga Films company, he taps into the power of A.I. to bring forth a Music Video that finds a character calling that positive change to happen, and unite the people through music. Abka cannot campaign for change alone, and he encourages everyone to do their part. We just want a life that’s good. Here’s to better days.

You may have heard of Mandeville-based Comedian/Recording Artist Vicee Henry, if you’re not sure, you have seen a few of his TikTok videos where he reports his own version of News stories along with music. If you still aren’t familiar, don’t worry, you will shortly as we share his new single, “Choppa Holiday“.

Produced by Steel Chest for OuttaSpace Records on the “Dubai Riddim” (which also features music from Xkappe and Prince Guava), Vicee Henry gets into some festivities on “Choppa Holiday”. When it comes to securing the bag, it’s time for the bottle popping, the jewelry flashing, and living life in an extra way. Vicee provides a catchy hook for a tune that promises to gain some great attention in the coming week. The “Dubai Riddim” has been making noise throughout the year, and Vicee’s new track looks to give it more life, and include a few more prominent names for future releases. A video for “Choppa Holiday” is in the works, so fans of the tune can stay tuned. It’s a celebration.
