OLDIES SUNDAY (Christmas): Ajamu – Ah Want A Little Something (2001)

Christmas time is upon us yet again, and we look forward to what’s in store. As usual, we have to put you on to some holiday music, and on “Oldies Sunday“, have some classics. Today’s selection comes from the Island of Grenada. We feature Recording Artist Ajamu’s track, “Ah Want A Little Something“.

Produced by Edson Mitchell a.k.a. Ajamu and released through Charlie’s Records in 2001, Ajamu gave the people another in his line of Christmas music with, “Ah Want A Little Something”. The song finds him making a couple requests for his fans. He has been known to deliver a song for the holidays yearly, and while he does it for the people, he’d love for them to give back to him for the season. He delivers musical gifts, but wishes for a gift or few himself. He kindly asks throughout the song, and hopes it won’t cause any problems after. “Ah Want A Little Something” was featured on his 2001 album, “Christmas Soca Parang“, and is one of his signature Parang hits.

STAY TUNED FOR ANOTHER CHRISTMAS CLASSIC ON “OLDIES SUNDAY”!

OLDIES SUNDAY (Christmas): Scrunter – De Parang Now Start

It’s that time of year when Ham is being sold for record-high prices, and crates of Sodas and Beers are being ordered. It’s Christmas time on Oldies Sunday. In Trinidad and Tobago, Parang is recognized (this year celebrates 45 years of Soca Parang), and for today’s selection, we go there to check out Scrunter’sDe Parang Now Start“.

Produced by Earl Crosby and released through JW Production, Scrunter celebrates the Christmas season in “De Parang Now Start”. Backed by great production, Scrunter shares lyrics about what Christmas time means to him, what is expected during the season, and invites everyone to partake and have fun. This track will have you dancing throughout, and if this doesn’t give you fond thoughts, you’re not listening hard enough. “De Parang Now Start” quickly became a popular track, and was featured on the compilation album, “A Decade Of Scrunter: De Parang Now Start“.

Scrunter is still active in music, and has been hailed as the “King Of Soca Parang“. It was rumoured last year of his passing, but he is still making his rounds, and showing up for Parang. Stay tuned to this platform for another holiday offering on Oldies Sunday!

Marcia Miranda "Gimme Love Fuh Christmas" on 13thStreetPromotions.com #TrinidadandTobago #Parang #Christmas #Music #13thStreetPromotions #MarciaMiranda #GimmeLoveFuhChristmas #Trinidad #TrinidadandTobago #Caribbean

OLDIES SUNDAY (Christmas): Marcia Miranda – Gimme Love Fuh Christmas (1993)

It’s that time of year when it’s colder than cold, and Sorrel and Ham become holiday staples. It’s Christmas time on Oldies Sunday. For today’s entry, we take a trip to Trinidad & Tobago to hear Marcia Miranda’sGimme Love Fuh Christmas“!

Arranged by Pelham Goddard, “Gimme Love Fuh Christmas” was released through Crosby’s in 1993. The holiday-themed track finds Marcia Miranda rejecting all the typical gifts that one would want for Christmas, and is instead needing love from her Husband. It gets very chilly at that time of year, and without the love of her life, the season is a sad one. “Gimme Love” resonates with many during this time of year as some would find themselves lonely, or even distant from the ones they love. We hope that changes for many of our listeners. Marcia Miranda’s “Gimme Love Fuh Christmas” became a popular Parang track when released, and is still played through various outlets to this day.

Marcia Miranda is still very active in the Caribbean, and has a catalogue that extends beyond Parang. Stay tuned to this platform for another holiday offering on Oldies Sunday!
