Mackeehan Gives Us “Pieces” Of New Music

When it comes to the music, it’s not just about entertaining the masses, but playing significant parts in enlightening and educating. Reggae Artist Mackeehan has been one who has delivered music with powerful messages over the years, and he is still making it his mission. Earlier, he released the new EP, “Pieces“.

Featuring 6 tracks, Mackeehan looks to connect with more people with his new “Pieces” EP. The new EP is a follow up to the 2023 “Notes Of Passion” EP, and he aims to make the project something that becomes a mainstay until his upcoming album. Frankie Music Production oversees the sound for the EP, while guest appearances by Yaksta, Kabaka Pyramid, Trisstar, and Geo Lyrical contribute to a great listen. Reggae Artist Mortimer is gearing up to make the rest of 2024 an amazing time. With a solid catalogue, his music is just getting better as he delves into an artistry that makes him a standout. Recently, he announced the new album, “From Within“, and it promises to be his best release yet. Ahead of the album’s release, he released a number of singles, and now follows up with “Bruises“.

Co-Produced with Winta James for Overstand Entertainment, Mortimer enlists Kabaka Pyramid and Lila Ike to tackle serious issues on “Bruises”. The track speaks on the pain and suffering endured by Black people, the trauma that has been passed down through generations, and calls out those who try to justify the pain that was dished out. The three Artists share their unique voices and verses over some solid production, making the track one that will open door to more discussions about giving the victims their just due. September 20 looks to be a big day, and the anticipation for “From Within” has been growing. New music from a future legend.

Today (July 1) is recognized as “International Reggae Day“, and we salute the pioneers, the movers and shakers, and the talent who took this genre to every part of the world, influencing generations. One of people who made Reggae an emerging force in the beginning was the late Producer Leslie Kong. Through Kong, the career of Jimmy Cliff took off, the launch of Beverley’s Records from a small Record Shop, to a Internationally known Record Label happened, Bob Marley got to record his first single, the establishment of Chris Blackwell’s Island Records and Graeme Goodall’s short-lived Pyramid label through his early investments, and taking Reggae Music to the International market. Kong also became the Island’s leading Producer having worked with everyone from Toots and The Maytals, Desmond Dekker, and many others. Today, we salute his work with our latest Playlist, “Sampling Leslie Kong“.

For over 3 1/2 hours, “Sampling Leslie Kong” highlights some of Kong’s many hits, and the songs that sampled them. From Jimmy Cliff, to Toots and The Maytals, to Bob Marley, to Desmond Dekker, to Christina Aguilera, to Foxy Brown, to Shaggy, to Vampire Weekend, to SchoolBoy Q, to FatBoySlim, the new Playlist will entertain you, and of course educate you. The world is going through some things that have changed the people we’ve interacted with each other, and live lives day to day. As we advance in various fields, we have lost values and morals. Recording Artist Keznamdi has seen a lot in his time, and wants to make a contribution that will assist in bettering the world. He shares his message in, “Identity Crisis“.

Produced by Off Grid and Llamar “Riff Raff” Brown, Keznamdi shares his observations on “Identity Crisis”. The world is ever-evolving, but corruption has grown at a rapid rate, crime is more rampant, people have chosen to follow paths that are more immoral, and true identity is being lost among many. Kez presents a message in hopes that it reaches the listener in the right way, and encourages changes for the better because it will get worse if there are no positive moves made. The track is accompanied by a Music Video, which was  co-directed by Keznamdi and Nathanael Amani. Some will sell their soul for the “good life“, others will modify their natural beauty to appease to societal norms, some will do anything for “likes” and validation from people who don’t care about them, we just hope entries like “Identity Crisis” does its part to make a difference in this crazy world.
