OLDIES SUNDAY: Enur X Natasja Saad – Calabria 2007 (2007)

In recognition of Women’s History Month, we take the time out to feature Women who have made great contributions to our music culture. While we celebrate the Women all year over here, we recognize some through our Oldies Sunday section. For today’s selection, we head on over to Denmark for Reggae/Dancehall/Hip Hop Artist Natasja Saad’sCalabria 2007“.

Done in collaboration with Danish Producers Enur, Natasja’s “Calabria 2007” was released through Ministry Of Sound in March 2007. The track finds Natasja sharing her thoughts on a Man who is said to be “the talk of the town”. He possesses certain characteristics that have captured her attention, and they make things happen together. The track was originally released in 2003 as a House Music Instrumental, and was remixed with Dancehall sounds, and Natasja’s deejaying skills. The track was an instant success upon release, and went #1 on US Billboard Dance charts. The track was featured in a 2007 Target back to school campaign, and was remixed by Rapper MIMS, Dominican Artist Punto Rojo, Dancehall Artist Vybz Kartel, and a number of DJs and Producers.

While “Calabria 2007” was a success, Natasja Saad was not able to enjoy it in the long term as she tragically lost her life in June 2007 in Jamaica. Many still mourn her loss, and wonder what her life would’ve been like as things started to look up for her. Posthumous releases followed her death, with the final one being in 2018. Natasja made a valuable mark in the Danish and Jamaican music scenes, and “Calabria 2007” is still played around the world.

Thank You Natasja Saad, Sleep Well!

Trisstar Shares Her Pains On “Broken”.

Life is filled with many challenges, and either we successfully overcome them, or we fall victim to the hardships. For Recording Artist Trisstar, her challenges have left her with scars that haven’t been healed. She shares her journey on “Broken“.

With a video directed by Twique Visuals, Trisstar shares her pains on “Broken”. Like many others, she has experienced her fair share of trauma, but has been sadly grown into becoming numb, sad, and hopeless. She shares that she misses the happier times in her life, but circumstances have broken her, and caused a 180 degree change. “Broken” was produced by Great Sound Production. Depression has grown in the number of victims it has affected over the years, and many Women make the list in part to the many unfortunate events they have been involved in. Despite her current outlook on life, we hope Trisstar finds her light at the end of the tunnel, and become the true Warrior she aspires to be. An Artist on the rise, we look forward to more from her.
