OLDIES SUNDAY: @Singing_Sweet – Oh Donna (1992)

Today’s Oldies Sunday selection comes from former child singer Paul McFarlane a.k.a. Singing Sweet. Titled “Oh Donna” and produced by Colin Fatta in 1992, this was a cover of Ritchie Valens’ 1959 hit of the same name. Singing Sweet sings about losing his lover named Donna and how he misses her and needs her back in his life.

Oh Donna” became a hit for Singing Sweet and recognized as one of his most memorable songs. “Oh Donna” went on to be a big hit both locally and internationally and was included in his debut album of the same name in 1994 through VP Records. Singing Sweet went on to enjoy success until he migrated to the United States a few years later. He returned to Jamaica in 2001 and signed up Freddie McGregor’s Big Ship label where he is still signed to this day. He still travels and performs his hit song along with others and is still being requested for dubplates by fans worldwide.

Thank You Singing Sweet for this timeless hit.
