On today’s Oldies Sunday, we look back at a single from the “Doctor“, Beenie Man! Recently he celebrated his 44th birthday, and we wanted to show love to one of the living Legends of Dancehall. Today we look at “Maestro“, an Opera inspired single that was produced by Patrick Roberts for Shocking Vibes Production on the “Sore Riddim” and released in 1996. Here Beenie further proclaims being “The Girls Dem Sugar” and shows love to the ladies who command attention, and are the “Wife” type. What really makes this single stand out, is Beenie’s delivery which is similar to an Opera Singer’s. “Maestro” was the first track featured on Beenie Man’s 1996 Album of the same name.
Since the release of “Maestro”, Beenie Man has went on to not only become a Dancehall Legend, but has been called “The Greatest Dancehall Entertainer Of All Time“, received numerous awards including a Grammy Award in 2001, released numerous Albums and collaborated with many top Artists both locally and Internationally, held his own in various beefs, and is still going strong today! We salute the “Doctor” and wish him a belated Happy Birthday!
