On today’s Oldies Sunday, we look back at a single from the “Doctor“, Beenie Man! Recently he celebrated his 44th birthday, and we wanted to show love to one of the living Legends of Dancehall. Today we look at “Maestro“, an Opera inspired single that was produced by Patrick Roberts for Shocking Vibes Production on the “Sore Riddim” and released in 1996. Here Beenie further proclaims being “The Girls Dem Sugar” and shows love to the ladies who command attention, and are the “Wife” type. What really makes this single stand out, is Beenie’s delivery which is similar to an Opera Singer’s. “Maestro” was the first track featured on Beenie Man’s 1996 Album of the same name.
The “Shotta” Ky-Mani Marley stopped by Power 105.1’s “The Breakfast Club” for a quick interview. Here he spoke a little about his background, releasing his first album in 8 years, his father’s legacy and recalling a memory with him, touring and more. Great interview here, while many will remember Ky-Mani for being a part of the classic “Shottas“, they will need to add his music to their collection. “Maestro” will be out on June 30.
