OLDIES SUNDAY: Delroy Wilson – Have Some Mercy (1973)

With Valentine’s Day will find couples doing the most come February 14, today’s Oldies Sunday selection looks at the other side of love. We check out the late Delroy Wilson’s 1973 hit, “Have Some Mercy“. Produced by Ainsley Folder, this was released through the Dee Jay Music Label, followed by releases through the Cactus and Sydna Labels the following year. The track finds Delroy pleading for his lady to come back home as they’ve recently broken up. Throughout the song, he shares how things have been upside down for him since she left, and asks for another chance for them to make it right. The song became a hit for Delroy Wilson, and it remains one of his signature classics.

While many will feel the love this week, there are those who wish to have those feelings back. We hope and pray that many broken relationships are fixed this week. If they aren’t fixed this week, may they get that well deserved chance soon. Have some mercy, and make it happen! Hang in there peeps.
