2026 is Ras-I’s year. The Recording Artist has been teasing for a good part of last year that an album was on the way. Many have been enjoying his musical output live and on the streams over the past couple years, and more people have been sharing that they want more. Come May, Ras-I will deliver his 3rd album, “Heart Of Love“. Until then, he gives you a dose of it via the new single, “These Are The Days“.

Produced by Koastal Kings/Ras-I Musique and featuring Kabaka Pyramid, “These Are The Days” is the collaboration many have been yearning for. While they have collaborated previously on “Do The Right” (Kabaka was the Producer), they take it to another level with trading verses about living life abundantly after putting in the work, combining faith and dedication to make their dreams a reality, and giving thanks for where they’re are now in life. Kicking off “Album SZN” in a big way, fans of Ras-I will get a preview of more to come in the coming weeks, so stay tuned. Natty Dread at the helm, tune in.

Recording Artist Busy Signal has lived through many ups, but has dealt with many downs in his life. Through it all, he holds on to his faith for better, and encourages others to stay focused, and hopeful. He shares a few words in, “Horizon“.

Produced by 2Cuz on the “Diff-Er-Ent Riddim“, Busy Signal shares some encouragement for the world in, “Horizon”. The Deejay wants better for the youth, better for the world, and the new track hopes to be a step in the right direction for some. Busy Signal started off his year with new releases, and took to Gambia and Dubai for his travels in January. The Queen returns for 2026 with new music. Which Queen? Ivy Queen, the Queen of Reggaeton! She celebrates 31 years of music this year, and she still moves with the best of them in the genre. She stayed busy last year, releasing music and performing, and she continues to show no age with her work ethic. This time around, she premieres her “Flow De Revista“.

Co-Produced with Yarek Orsini and William III Colon, Ivy Queen keeps the vibes going at a high level in, “Flow De Revista”. Listeners will be locked in to her sound, and move to the production because though Ivy is sharp with her lyrics, she’s making everyone dance. She follows up the single with a music video as well, and it was directed by Jack Nine Films. 30 years being successful in one lane is no easy feat, and we salute the Queen, and may she reign for more years to come.

Reggae Music From Hawaii Featured In New “The Wrecking Crew” Film

Reggae Music is universal, and continues to be so after adding more GRAMMY awards and other accolades to its mantle. Over the weekend, the new Film, “The Wrecking Crew” premiered on Amazon Prime Video. The Film stars Jason Mamoa and Dave Bautista, who are half brothers investigating the death of their Father in Hawaii. The Film features Actors who are from the Island of Hawaii and of Hawaiian descent, and shares parts of Hawaiian culture. Reggae got a feature in the Film, and we speak on it below.

During a scene in the new Film, “The Wrecking Crew”, “Brains” by Hawaiian/Samoan Recording Artist/Educator/Farmer Ka’ikena Scanlan was featured. The Pacific/Hawaiian Reggae single was released in 2019, produced by Pano, features Hawaiian Band These Guys, and was released through Spoon Meat Entertainment. The track speaks on the corruption that happens in the world, the manipulation of the people by evil doers and warmongers, and is a call for people to wake up, preserve the culture, and fight against systems that don’t mean the world well. Reggae music has mostly been about revolutions and consciousness, and Ka’ikena’s track is no different. “The Wrecking Crew” is out now on Amazon Prime Video.

OLDIES SUNDAY: Ambelique – Penny Lover (1997)

Welcome to February. We kick off Reggae Month, celebrate the birthday of the late Dennis Brown, recognize Black History Month, and celebrate love. It’s “Oldies Sunday“, and before we start off, we salute the late Sly Dunbar known to many from the Production duo Sly & Robbie who passed away on January 26. Today’s selection is all about love and remembering the greats. We go back in time to check out “Penny Lover” by Ambelique.

Produced by Sly & Robbie and released through the Taxi label in 1997, it’s all about a deep desire for that special someone in Ambelique’s “Penny Lover”. The track is a Reggae cover of US Singer Lionel Richie’s 1984 hit single, and Ambelique does it justice with his unique vocals, pulling in the listener who is focused on love. Sly & Robbie’s top tier production adds well to the powerful track, and it became a hit for listeners. “Penny Lover” was featured on the 1997 album, “Sings The Classics“, and was included in a number of Sly & Robbie projects following including the GRAMMY Award-winning “Friends” album.

Since “Penny Lover”, Ambelique continued to release more music. He is still active, and in 2024 he released the album “Blind Spot“. Though “Penny Lover” is a cover, it’s still loved by many around the world.

Elephant Man’s work ethic is one that should be studied. When many are thinking of slowing down in their 31st year, he’s still moving at a pace like he’s in his first. His efforts should be applauded, as he’s keeping the people moving. This time around, he wants the Women to “Set Suh“.

Produced by DreamRich Records/Fuse, Elephant Man is ready for the ladies to give him their best moves in, “Set Suh”. Ele continues to bring the energy, and we can expect this track to set things off when it hits the party. With a flashy music video directed by Simeon Di Great, the ladies throughout show us what they’re made of, with Ele enjoying it all. Fans of the Deejay can catch him next month in Kingston at the 20th anniversary staging of “Footloose“, in the UK in May for “City Splash“, and get their speakers ready for a new album later this year.
