It’s a new day for Dancehall Artist Govana, and his moves will take him to levels beyond the ceiling. As one of the formidable lyricists, when he’s not constructing deadly verses, he’s getting the ladies in the mood with some selection from his stash. This time, he’s building on an already solid foundation with his sophomore album, “Legacy“.

Featuring 12 tracks, Govana is making some of his best music on “Legacy”. Following up the 2020 debut album, “Humans And Monsters Are Not The Same“, Govi Govi is not playing around. Whether you get the gyallis, hints of “Deablo“, or the StrikeForce Boss, “Legacy” has you covered for the Govana experience. Production on the album include the likes of Raheef Muzik Group, Crash Dummy Productions, Chimney Records, Emudio Records, Daseca, Hemton Music, and Attomatic Records, while Popcaan, Jada Kingdom, Skeng, Mavado, and Aidonia join in on some special selections. Things Get Exciting On The Worksite In Laden’s “Construction”

Everyday is a working day, but sometimes there needs to be a break. The 9 to 5 can bring on a different type of fatigue, so rest and relaxation in various forms are needed. For Dancehall Artist Laden, his work day suddenly turns into a party in the video for the single, “Construction“.

Directed by Top Shootah, the worksite gets exciting for Laden in “Construction”. Construction work is one of the hardest jobs to do, but thanks to the appearance of some lovely ladies (including emerging Video Vixen Zho), Laden finds himself getting to work on their beauty sensual features, and their enticing dance moves. “Construction” was produced by Slyda Di Wizard, and is one of a number of tracks Laden has prepared this year directly for the ladies. No matter your position on the worksite, when the ladies come around, it’s break time.

Elephant Man Pays Tribute To The Late Gerald “Bogle” Levy In “Pop Me Collar”

A couple weeks ago, we shared a preview of Elephant Man’s “Pop Me Collar” single. The preview came in the form of a dance video performed by Choreographer Christina A. González, and it quickly gained some attention. The “Energy God Summer” continues as Ele has officially shared the full single.

Produced by Kemar McGregor on the “Insects Riddim”, Elephant Man keeps the dance vibes going with “Pop Me Collar”. Channeling the dancing spirit of Gerald “Bogle” Levy and celebrating his legacy, Ele calls out some of the late dancer’s moves in tribute throughout. Whether you know how to do the “Bogle“, “Jerry Springer/L.O.Y“, “Urkle“, “Willie Bounce“, “World Series“, “World Dance“, or “Zip It Up“, you can salute a Jamaican Icon in a great way while listening to “Pop Me Collar”. Nile SNL Follows Up With New Single, “Mumma”

Recording Artist Nile SNL is back at it again with new music. Having gained some viral love from the previously released, “Poem Of Chop“, he looks to keep the vibe going, and possibly secure more than viral attention. He was making the necessary moves to spoil his Woman on the last single, now he’s at odds with her in, “Mumma“.

Produced by Overyard Production, Nile SNL wants peace, and to be in good graces with his Woman in “Mumma”. Nile shares a couple situations that have happened, but could be facing the chopping block if he doesn’t act right by his Woman. The track is accompanied by a Music Video directed by Brownland Pictures, and we can expect “Mumma” to get some good attention in the coming weeks. Relationships have their times, and some of them can be very challenging. Be careful out there.

OLDIES SUNDAY: @Aventura – Obsesión (2002)

The Month of June is recognized as “Caribbean American Heritage Month“, and on “Oldies Sunday“, we want to highlight a few Artists who are a part of this. Today’s selection comes from the Dominican-American Bachata band Aventura with the single, “Obsesión“.

Produced by Franklin Romero and released through Premium Latin Music in 2002, “Obsesión” was Aventura’s lead single off of their 2nd official album, “We Broke The Rules“. The track is about a Man who likes a Woman, but it is not of love, and it has gone to the point of obsession. The smooth production compliments the vocals provided by the duo of Lead Vocalist Romeo Santos, and Singer Judy Santos, and was sung in Spanish. “Obsesión” became a hit for Aventura, topping charts in Austria, Belgium, France, Germany, Italy, and Switzerland, and selling Gold in Austria, Platinum in Belgium, Germany, and Italy, and Diamond in France. The track helped to break barriers, modernizing the Bachata sound. An English version of “Obsesión” was featured on “We Broke The Rules” along with an EP featuring various remixes followed in 2002. A Radio remix was released in 2004. It was also covered by the likes of Frankie J, 3rd Wish, and Tropical Family.

Since the release of “Obsesión”, Aventura (consisting of Romeo, Henry, Max, and Lenny Santos) went on to become the “Kings of Modern Bachata“, and becoming the first major Bachata band to have originated in the US (The Bronx, New York). Lead Vocalist Romeo Santos went on to have a very successful Music career, and has reunited and performed with the band a number of times over the years. The band has also released more albums and singles over the years, and they’re currently promoting their latest single, “Brindo Con Agua“, which was released in April 2024. They are recognized during “Caribbean American Heritage Month” for their Dominican (and Puerto Rican via Romeo’s Mother) background. “Obsesión” is still played and loved to this day.
