Jamaica has a vast collection of sounds that have contributed to many of your favourite pieces of music around the world. With genres like Dancehall, Reggae, Ska, and Mento, Jamaica has influenced many. Speaking of Mento, the world-renowned The Jolly Boys Mento band tapped into a classic for the newest release called, “Day-O“.

Produced by Dale Virgo and Jon Baker, The Jolly Boys teamed up with the Nexus Performing Arts Company to cover the classic Jamaican Folk Song, which was also known around the world as the “Banana Boat Song“. The song gained worldwide recognition through Trinidadian Singer Edric Connor, Jamaican Folklorist Louise Bennett-Coverley, and Jamaican-American Singer/Actor Harry Belafonte, who made the best known version. The Rick Elgood-directed music video that accompanies “Day-O” pays tribute to Belafonte along with Albert Minott, Joseph “Powda” Bennett, and Derrick “Jonny” Henry, who were former members of The Jolly Boys.

A little bit of Jamaican Culture from the past here. Something to appreciate, something to share with others. Long live The Jolly Boys, and may those who are no longer with us find eternal rest.

Social Media sensation and upcoming Recording Artist Kizzy Don is aiming to be a household name, and a personality that is on a global level. While she has gained quite the following on Instagram and TikTok through her various pieces of content, she has been working making her music another lane of success. The Manchester/St. Elizabeth-based Artist has released a number of singles, and recently got some people talking with the release of the visual for the single, “Joe Grind“.

“Joe Grind” was produced by Lenoi Bentley, and it finds Kizzy Don requesting the presence of a lover as her current partner has been unsatisfactory. The Sevenz-directed Music Video features a guest appearance by fellow Social Media sensation Vicee Henry, who plays the role of “Joe Grind”. The video finds Kizzy getting acquainted with her secret lover while her partner is absent. Since the release of the video, Kizzy has surpassed the 100k views mark on Youtube, and has been working on getting the video to more eyes. Recording Artist Kxng Izem keeps the consistency going with the release of new content. Still pushing his “Midnight/Till Dawn” double EP, it was only last week when he premiered the visual for “Vengeance“, now he follows up with the visual for the track, “Havoc“.

Directed by Vartex Studio, Kxng Izem shows more confidence on “Havoc”. The video switches up between conversing with his brother, to performing the track, and the overall visual is clean. “Havoc” was featured on the “Midight” EP, and was produced by Ten24 Music. There’s a good chance Kxng Izem will follow up with another music video soon, but in the meantime, get familiar with the “Midnight/Till Dawn” EPs.

Over the past few weeks, the DJ Mac/ProdByPanda-produced single has worked its way up to viral status on Social Media, with many anticipating the official Music Video. The wait is over as Teejay finally unveiled it.

Directed by Lagikz Supreme, get ready to join Teejay and a number of dancers in putting on the moves in the “Drift” video. Featuring various clips including the viral scene where the Deejay was performing on top a Vehicle, viewers will be locked in to a very enjoyable visual. Chronic Law is King when it comes to the content. He still holds strong as the hardest working Dancehall Artist, with singles and Music Videos dropping at a rapid rate. What’s next you say for Chronic Law, Short Films? Well, he has made that happen with the release of, “Kin Of Fraudulence“.

Directed by Jesse James and written by Zbek Nelson, “Kin Of Fraudulence” features Chronic Law playing the role of a prominent figure known as “Fada Dark“, whose day to day life took a sudden change with the kidnapping of his Daughter. Based off the CollectDiBred Entertainment-produced “Nuh Trust Dem“, the “Law Boss” gets into Gangster mode and recruits “Unknown”, who is played by Nelson, to retrieve his Daughter, and get rid of the Kidnappers. The Short Film promises to be an entertaining watch, and the theme of “Trust” is very evident here.  We expect “KOF” to kick off a trend for others to follow shortly. Watch to the end below.

Dancehall Artist Skeng is working his way up to becoming a well traveled man, truly making his brand a global one. Looking to make a bigger impact, he has secured a record deal with Rapper Nicki Minaj, and has been taking his talents to various stages. This time around, he lands in a famous European city called, “Paris“.

Directed by AllEyezOnIt, Skeng takes on the City of Love in one of his recent bookings. Rolling with a few of his peers, the Deejay gives us a good view of the Eiffel Tower, and other parts of the city while performing his Droptop Records/3 Kings Music Group-produced track. Skeng has made an impact in various cities, and with a great support system, he will be a unstoppable entity in the coming months. Where will Skeng show up next?
