Top Banks Officially Releases “Fat Ride & Nuh House”

“Fat ride and no house…” was a sound you’d hear on Social Media for weeks, and you couldn’t escape it. The creator of that sound was Manchester-based Dancehall Artist Top Banks as he was working on new music, and was testing the waters with his audience. The sound evolved into Comedy skits, a new way of life for some, and opened the floor for many, many discussions online about what is more important, getting the car or house first. Nonetheless, many awaited the official song to be made and released, and earlier today, Top Banks made that possible. Check out, “Fat Ride & Nuh House“.

Produced by Antuwang Music, Top Banks plays with the idea of car over property in “Fat Ride & Nuh House”. The “Choppa” lifestyle is a very lucrative one for those who practice it, and some have chosen to spend their earnings as a reflection of “living in the moment“, rather than investing for the long term. Whether it’s the new car, clothes, vacations, temporary residence, or Women, some believe that tomorrow may never come, so spend it all today. House caan skate pon di Toll, but the Mark X and Mercedes Benz GLE can. In the Kreative Klique-directed Music Video, Top Banks takes on the Mandeville streets in a flashy ride and parties it up, but when he calls it a night, the same flashy ride is his Bed & Breakfast, Kitchen, and sleeping quarters. With the official release of “Fat Ride & Nuh House”, the sound will have a little more life to live on Social Media, and in the day to day society.

Swizzz Shares A Gyallis Adventure In “Likk N Run”

Mandeville-based Dancehall Artist/Internet Personality $wizzz is on a mission to take his name to new levels this year. While he has been busy with the content, he’s equally busy outside the Studio as an Educator. He has also gotten himself in a few situations as well, and he shares one of his adventures in, “Likk N Run“.

Directed by Ghost Studios and Jojoink Designs, $wizzz finds himself getting caught up with a lovely lady in “Likk N Run”. He tells his story over the classic “Beach Front Riddim“, which was produced by Head Concussion Records, but the single was released through Chiavi Music. The video starts with $wizzz setting his sights on a young Woman by a pool, and they get down to business in various locations. While their adventures seem fun and risky, things get serious later in the video. If you want to know what happened, check out the video below. Don’t expect $wizzz to teach the gyallis code in the classroom, but you are sure to see him issue out a few lessons when he’s mingling in the streets.

Manchester-based Dancehall Artist Jquan continues to bring his music to more places, and expand on his brand. He already has a number of hit singles, and has made appearances on a number of events locally and Internationally. He looks to keep the vibes going with the video for the new single, “Catch E Rock“.

Done in collaboration with DJ Frass for the “Party Bus Riddim“, Jquan is bringing the energy with “Catch E Rock”. The party is just getting started, but the Deejay is going make sure that everyone is moving to the beat. With a Music Video directed by Now Or Never, we hit the road with the Deejay, and we join the Dancers and partygoers for a good time in the streets. A few familiar faces show up throughout the video as well. You don’t have to be the biggest Dancer, but it’s all about good vibes, and music to get you ready for the summertime party scene. On “Oldies Sunday” we celebrate the classics and the underrated gems, and we aim to bring listeners back to a time when they first enjoyed the selection, and introduce new listeners to something they’ve never heard before. Some of our Artists are Caribbean-born, some are born overseas but highly influenced by the Caribbean. For today’s selection, we highlight a Jamaican-born Artist who grew up overseas, but never left his Caribbean background behind. He is the late Recording Artist/Producer/Dancer/Actor Heavy D, and we feature the track, “Mood For Love“.

Produced by the cousins Heavy D and Pete Rock and featuring Eddie F, “Trouble” T. Roy, and G-Whiz who form “Heavy D & The Boyz“, “Mood For Love” was released through MCA Records/Uptown Records in 1989. It’s all about love on “Mood For Love”, and everything good that comes along with it. The song finds Heavy D draws inspirations from Reggae/Dancehall, R&B, and Hip Hop, and delivers in a Deejay cadence with melodic parts throughout. The song also sampled Yellowman’s “Zungguzungguguzungguzeng” and Pat Kelly’s “I’m In The Mood For Love“. Heavy D encourages love to flow on through his song, and it quickly gained popularity from many listeners. While it wasn’t officially released as a single, it was featured on Heavy D & The Boyz’s Platinum-selling sophomore album, “Big Tyme“.

Since the release of “Mood For Love”, Heavy D and his “Heavy D & The Boyz” collective went on to release more music, and enjoy more success. “Trouble” T. Roy passed away in 1990, and was the inspiration for the classic Pete Rock & C.L. Smooth track, “They  Reminisce Over You (T.R.O.Y.)“. Born in Mandeville, Manchester and raised in Mt. Vernon, New York, Heavy D become an important figure in Hip Hop, played a role in the development of a few Artists including Soul for Real, never turning his back on his roots and collaborated with the likes of Super Cat, Frankie Paul, and Buju Banton, acted in a number of Films and TV Shows, performed the Theme songs for “In Living Color” and “Madtv“, and even made hits with Michael Jackson, Janet Jackson, and B.B. King. Heavy D passed away on November 8, 2011, and despite the reports, his death has been a part of a few conspiracy theories in relation to Sean “P. Diddy” Combs, who has been the target of a number of investigations over the years. “Mood For Love” remains one of Heavy D’s more memorable tunes.

Manchester-based Internet Personality Prince Guava has been making it happen in the Comedy lane, but has been gaining the attention of many with his role as a Recording Artist. With Music Videos that are securing trending placements, and songs going viral on Social Media, his star power is increasing. He steps out with his new single, “Aye“.

Produced by frequent collaborator Steel Chest for Outta Space Records, Prince Guava is living it up in “Aye”. He talks about the fast life and enjoying the spoils of his works and schemes, and brings an upbeat energy over heavy production. “Aye” was previewed recently on one of Steel Chest’s TikTok Live sessions, and viewers shared their need for the full track. “Aye” is the track you pop bottles to, count and throw up money to, and rev the fast car to. Prince Guava is aiming for more in the Dancehall scene, so expect even more from him this year, and beyond.
