Elephant Man Releases Visual For “Walk Out Gyal”

Today’s National Heroes Day, and we salute those who have fought and sacrificed their lives in advancing Black people in Jamaica, and inspiring many outside of the Island to do the same for their countries. We use this time to salute our musical heroes, as many of them made efforts to put Jamaica on the map with their work for decades. One of those heroes is Dancehall Artist Elephant Man, and earlier he shared the video for his new single, “Walk Out Gyal“.

Directed by Ramon Lindsay, Elephant Man takes it to the streets in “Walk Out Gyal”. The Deejay shouts out the Women who live with certain morals and values, and they show up in their numbers in the video. The visual incorporates some aspects of the Pocomania culture, with some donning garments that are usually worn during ceremonies. Elephant Man continues to keep the content factory in business, and he has no plans on shutting down anytime soon. With his 30 year anniversary in Dancehall coming up, we can expect even more from the Deejay. Walk out against negativity.

OLDIES SUNDAY: Prince Far I – Jamaican Heroes (1980)

Tomorrow (October 21) will be celebrated as “National Heroes Day” in Jamaica. The yearly event recognizes the works of those who fought for our freedom, and highlights the everyday hero who has made sacrifices over the years, and those who have contributed to our progress as a nation. Jamaican music has boasted its share of heroes who have helped to advance the culture, and we recognize one of them on “Oldies Sunday“. His name is Prince Far I, and we feature his track, “Jamaican Heroes“.

The self-produced “Jamaican Heroes” was released through Trojan Records in 1980, and it found Prince Far I saluting the Jamaicans who we now know as national heroes. The 6 heroes and 1 heroine started revolutions, fought to hold high positions that would make Jamaica becoming Independent a reality, and helped to make the Island a shining jewel in the world. Far I delivered solid words over a solid production, and had the assistance of backup Vocalists throughout. “Jamaican Heroes” was featured on the 1980 album of the same name, and was one of his well-recognized tunes.

Since the release of “Jamaican Heroes”, Prince Far I would go on to release and produce more music, and perform in various parts of the world. Sadly on September 15, 1983, he would tragically lose his life in the aftermath of a robbery in his home. “The Voice Of Thunder“, as he was sometimes called, would be an influence to many Reggae Artists over the years. “Jamaican Heroes” is still played in parts of the world today.

Salute Our Heroes! Thank You Prince Far I For This Great Song!

Jamaican-born/Florida-based Producer/Musician/Recording Artist Kris-Karz has been on the scene for a number of years, and when he’s not producing for the likes of Kapital Stone, Royal Blu, Blvk H3ro, Dylan Golden, and Lola Jaan, he’s putting together his own music to speak about love, relationships, and life overall. He has gained recognition in Jamaica, throughout parts of the United States, and other parts of the world, but recently his profile expanded to new territories thanks to his recent placement with popular American Magazine, Architectural Digest.

Architectural Digest expanded their platform to host a number of video-based content on Youtube in recent years, where they feature property, Interior Design, and landscaping from celebrities, and other big names. For their latest entry in their “Open Door” series, they highlighted property from Miami Heat superstar, Jimmy Butler. The 14 minute clip showcased the NBA star’s Southern California Mansion with designs from popular Interior Decorator Tiffany Brooks, and featured music from Kris-Karz’s “Portraits” project. “Portraits” was a project that was announced in 2021 but not fully released, and included the singles “LUST”, “LOVE”, and “ENERGY”. The Instrumental for the tracks “LOVE” and “ENERGY” were featured in the closing of the video, along with other production from Karz that were played in various parts.

This is truly a blessing for me,” shared Kris-Karz. “I have been making music for well over 15 years, and this placement is a huge accomplishment for me. Sometimes you don’t know who will connect with your music, and to know that the Architectural Digest team loved it enough to include it in their content, i’m truly grateful for the opportunity. For those who ever had doubts about their talent, keep pushing because your moment and more are just around the corner. Believe in yourself.

Kris-Karz, born Kris-Anthony Smith in Manchester, Jamaica, is the founder of Kngly Studios, and its main Producer and Recording Artist. He is also the mind behind the Youtube Acoustic series, “Kngly Live”, which provided a platform for Recording Artists and Musicians from South Florida and surrounding areas to showcase their talent. As a Recording Artist, he has released singles such as, “LUST”, “Heartbreak”, “Text Me”, “GUSH”, and more recently “Safe With Me”. He is currently finalizing a number of releases to close off 2024, and kick off 2025.
