True true true, wooooo. For today’s Oldies Sunday, we highlight a Jamaican Artist who was recently awarded the Order of Distinction at the National Heroes’ Day ceremony on Heroes Day (October 16). His name is Wayne Mitchell, but we know him as Wayne Marshall, and we feature his single, “Overcome“.

Produced by Lenky Marsden on the “Diwali Riddim” and released through 40/40 Productions in 2002, Wayne Marshall provided words of encouragement on “Overcome”. The Singjay highlights the hardships many experience daily, and with the right guidance, they can move past them all for a better life. Marshall provided his signature delivery throughout, complimenting the production perfectly, which resulting into a hit for him. Add to the popularity of the “Diwali Riddim”, “Overcome” was played everywhere, and gave Marshall more looks in various parts of the world. “Overcome” was featured on the debut album “Marshall Law“, which was released in 2003.

Since the release of “Overcome”, Wayne Marshall continued to enjoy a music career filled with a number of high points. Aside from the music, he enjoys life as a family man with Wife, former Recording Artist Tami Chin-Mitchell, became a successful Youtuber, was recently recruited by CVM TV for a talk show series, became a household name outside of music, and given one of Jamaica’s highest honours. Regardless of his path now, many remember his signature “True true true“, and his hit single “Overcome”.

Thanks to the music culture, if you don’t drive a certain vehicle, you’re not a part of the conversation, and for Dancehall Artist/Comedian Prince Guava, it’s all about the “Dutty V8“.

Produced by Ultimate Drecords Musiq, Prince Guava has fun on “Dutty V8” as he’s living the “Maddest life” while tearing up the streets with a car that has an engine “sings like Tessanne“. He takes pride in putting in the necessary work to be able to afford the luxuries in his life, and every day is a party for him. The Saii Media-directed video was shot in Mandeville, and features an appearance by fellow Social Media sensation Twong City, who finds himself posing with someone else’s ride. Guava has been working on new music for quite some time, but he stays consistent with the comedy that continues to gain popularity on Social Media. Dancehall Artist Squash has been having quite an interesting year, but is still making progressive moves through it all. Still in the business of making music, he has a number of singles lined up, and we know the fans are anticipating them. He stepped out earlier with the release of, “Freeze Cold“.

Produced by Hemton Music on the “Freeze Cold Riddim” and released through VP Records, Squash takes the time to share a few thoughts, and lets listeners know what’s going on with him. The JB Visuals-directed visual accompanies the track, and it finds the Deejay with just the music and a spliff, no need for the crowd. We expect to hear more from the Deejay before the year closes, and we believe he’ll be making 2024 one of his best years yet. 6ix is still real.
