Wayne Wonder’s “No Letting Go” Featured In New @AtlantaFX Episode!


It’s Friday, and we hope you’re getting a much needed break this weekend. Watched anything good this week? Familiar with the series, “Atlanta“? For 3 seasons it has been hailed as one of the best things to watch on Cable. Starring Recording Artist/Actor/Comedian Donald Glover, this season has been getting mixed reviews, but it’s overall a great watch. This season showed off a lil Caribbean vibe, and for its season finale, a Dancehall classic was featured.

Wayne Wonder’s 2002 hit, “No Letting Go” was featured in episode 10 of the series, “Atlanta”. Produced by Steven “Lenky” Marsden on the “Diwali Riddim“, this track helped to make Wayne Wonder a permanent fixture in the International Dancehall scene. The track was remixed by LL Cool J, and has been sampled by the likes of Akon, Tory Lanez, Kranium, and De La Ghetto.

“Atlanta” is now airing on FX.

Freddie McGregor’s “Bobby Babylon” Featured In New @WinningTimeHBO Episode!


Any of you watch the new HBO series “Winning Time“? It chronicles the professional and personal lives of the 1980s Los Angeles Lakers Basketball team, both on and off the court. There are a few familiar faces in the series, and some of your favourite music too, but for their 3rd episode called “The Best Is Yet To Come“, a Reggae classic was featured.

Reggae Artist Freddie McGregor’s 1979 classic, “Bobby Babylon” was featured in the latest episode of “Winning Time”. Produced by Sir Coxsone Dodd for Studio One, “Bobby Babylon” was a hit for Freddie McGregor, and he along with the single lead to the resurgence of the Record Label in the early 1980s. The inclusion of “Bobby Babylon” in the series fits well with the 80s theme as the series focuses on the “Showtime Lakers“. “Winning Time” is now available for viewing every Sunday on HBO.

We’re back again with another discovery in the “Finding Jamaican Music on TV” series. If you’re familiar with the FX series, “Better Things“, in episode 4 called “Ephemera” in the 5th season, a Dancehall/Reggae Icon’s song was featured.

The Iconic Deejay King Yellowman’sPath Of Righteousness” was the featured song in the new “Better Things” episode. The track was released through Goldenlane Records, and featured on the 2013 release of Yellowman’sReggae Essentials/Freedom” compilation album which comprised of re-recorded hits, and demo tracks. Better Things is an American comedy-drama television series that focuses on a divorced actress who raises her three daughters on her own.

Classics From The Paragons & Tommy McCook Featured In New @DeathInParadise Episode!


Jamaican music continues to seep through some of your favourite pieces of content daily, and some of your favourite TV shows are continuing to get a piece of the vibes. Last week we highlighted a Popcaan classic being featured in “Power Book IV: Force, and this week we’re highlighting something from the British Broadcasting Corporation (BBC). Familiar with the series called “Death In Paradise“? Then follow this article for more.

On the 8th episode of the 11th series/season of “Death In Paradise”, classics from Jamaican Icons The Paragons and Tommy McCook were featured. The Paragons were up first with their classic, “Man Next Door” a.k.a. “I’ve Got To Get Away“. The single was released in 1968 through a few labels including Duke Records and Amalgamated Records, and featured vocals from the late John Holt and Bob Andy. Tommy McCook & The Supersonics were next up later in the episode with their 1970 classic, “Reggae Merengue“. This Instrumental was released through Treasure Isle Records, and was sampled by UK Artist Lily Allen.

“Death In Paradise” is a British–French crime drama television series that is set on the fictional Island of Saint Marie. Jamaican Actress Shantol Jackson is featured in Series/Season 11 as Sergeant Naomi Thomas.

Reggae Revolution’s “Lay Me Down” Featured In Latest @RaisingKanan Episode!


Reggae Music is just something that creeps into every part of your life, and it’s such a good thing. While we enjoy Reggae through our headphones and speakers, others are caught off guard through some of their favourite TV shows. One such show is a spinoff of the popular “Power” series called “Power Book III: Raising Kanan“. The series gives a backstory on one of the Antagonists from the original “Power” series, Kanan (played by Rapper/Exec. Producer 50 Cent), and in it’s latest episode, we hear a lil Reggae courtesy of US Reggae Band, Reggae Revolution’sLay Me Down“.

Released through Fervor Records in 2006, “Lay Me Down” is a Reggae love song from Reggae Revolution. The single was featured on the band’s “Reggae Revolution!” album. Reggae Revolution is a band that was formed in the 2005 by Multi-Instrumentalist/Songwriter/Producer Robert Cote in Phoenix, Arizona, and features Mike Bailey, Eric Eugene, and Katherine Rickling as members. The band was formed as a side project by Cote for Fervor Records, and after the band’s only album release, they disbanded. The “Lay Me Down” track can be heard in episode 2 of “Raising Kanan” during a scene featuring Actor Omar Epps.

The Heptones’ “Heptones Gonna Fight” Featured In New @SnowFallFX Episode


Are you a fan of TV shows? What do you get into? For some, the FX series “Snowfall” is a must-see TV show. With a story set around the beginning of the “Crack Epidemic” in 1980s LA, it has been hailed as one of the best crime dramas out. On episode 6 in season 4 of the series, a familiar Jamaican hit can heard, and it comes from the iconic, The Heptones!

During a scene featuring “Snowfall” character Khadijah, The Heptones’ 1968 release “Heptones Gonna Fight” can be heard throughout. Produced by “Sir CoxsoneDodd for Studio One, the track was featured on the group’s “On Top” album. It has been sampled by Garnett Silk, Shy FX, and former member Leroy Sibbles. It would seem like an injustice if you have a Film or TV Show and not have some Jamaican music as the soundtrack. “Snowfall” can be seen weekly on FX on Cable, or on Hulu.
