NEW MUSIC: @IamTheKartel – Servant


Vybz-Kartel-Found-Guilty-For-Murder-of-Clive-Williams-6Fresh off the heels of Gaza Slim releasing a Gospel song, TJ Records has released one from none other than Vybz Kartel. Titled “Servant“, we hear Kartel with the help from singers speak about wanting to more than an ordinary servant, giving thanks for all that has happened so far, being David while poverty is Goliath, quoting scriptures, and showing love for Jah. Interesting single from Mr. Palmer and the chrous was borrowed from the Regina Wingate single. Get ready for a ton more unreleased songs but will there be more Gospel tinged ones? NEW VIDEO: Vybz Kartel: Dancehall Dark Star


VKA few weeks ago, Vybz Kartel was not only found guilty of his crimes, but was also handed a life sentence. While many celebrated or felt disappointed, TVJ’s Anthony Miller released a documentary on the Dancehall Artist up to his sentencing. Titled “Dancehall Dark Star“, we see clips that chronicle Kartel’s journey from a new act working with Bounty Killa, his own fame, feuds and his arrest. OLDIES SUNDAY: @FederationSound x @IamTheKartel – From Time To Time (2003)


In recognition of Federation Sound’s 15th anniversary and Vybz Kartel’s career that has been stalled by his recent convictions, today’s Oldies Sunday selection comes in the form of a mixtape. Titled “From Time To Time“, this mixtape increased the popularity of Vybz Kartel and marked as the first collaboration between him and Federation Sound. Released in 2003, this mixtape featured hits from the artist, exclusive dubs and more that brought him from a local star to an International name to know. Founded in 1999 by Max Glazer, Kenny Meez, and Cipha Sounds, Federation Sound was formed to help bring Reggae music and message to all walks of life in the form of exclusive mixes and dubplates. With current members such as Alric & Boyd, and past member the late Disco D, Federation Sound became a force to be reckoned with in their 15 year career.
