2022 was a breakout year for Dancehall Artist Valiant. Having achieved heavy viral status thanks to a handful of tracks, he has secured a position as one of Dancehall’s hottest Artists out, and he has secured it even more with his live performances. At this point, he can’t do no wrong, and he continues his takeover in 2023 with “Glock 40“.

With a video directed by Shane Creative, Valiant is in his element on “Glock 40”. A track that was previewed on Instagram and TikTok, it quickly achieved viral status before its official release, building up quite the anticipation. The track details some of the happenings in his everyday life, while the video finds him partying up with the ladies and his crew. The era of Valiant is here, and we’ll be looking forward to what’s next from him.

Jamaican Software Developer Turns Classic Card Game “Strip Me” Into New App!

Growing up in the Caribbean, playing outside was the order of the day. Before the advent of the Internet as we know it, ring games, sports, and many other activities would dominate a child’s life, and would be remembered fondly. With the increase of technology, many of our pastimes have been fading away from regular use, and online activities have taken over. While many would show their displeasure, Jamaican Software Developer Kenardo Smith takes utilizes the power of modern Tech to incorporate some of our favourite pastimes. On January 16, he launched his latest App called, “Two Of Cards”!

“Two Of Cards” is the latest Caribbean gaming App developed by Kenardo Smith through K.I.S.S. Games. The App follows up Smith’s “ABC Fast Or Slow”, which was released in January 2020, and was widely success as it gained thousands of downloads between the iOS and Android platforms, and received praises on Social Media, and on 13thStreetPromotions.com, and TheDigitalJamaica.com. “Two Of Cards” is the digital version of the “Strip Me” card game from Jamaica, or the “Suck The Well” card game from Barbados and Trinidad & Tobago, and requires two players alternatively playing various cards with one having the better card, and the other rewarding that player till either party’s hand is empty, deeming the rewarded the victor.

 “Two Of Cards” is a Freeminum App, which means it’s ad-supported, and offers in-app purchases that will enhance the user’s experience. The App is available on iOS, MacOS, and Android platforms, requiring users to have iOS 11.0 and up, MacOS 11.0 or later, or Android OS 5.0 or later installed on their respective devices. Kenardo Smith will be updating the game through a series of App updates in the future.

Chxpz Finds His “Strength” In New Single!

They say when the time gets tough, the tough gets going, and there are many of us braving the days as they come.  We all have our battles, but it takes help from a higher place to overcome them. Dancehall Artist Chxpz has his share of struggle, but like his latest single, he is finding his “Strength“.

Produced by Simple Boss Records, Chxpz shares that he has experienced his share of pain, but he finds his strength in a higher power, and will stand firm. No time for weakness, he has to be strong in times of uncertainty and oppression. The new single is accompanied by a music video that was directed by Dark Moon Cinema, and it finds Chxpz at a Church building on his strength. Chxpz has been showing versatility in his talent, and has managed to stand out during a time when Artists are following the newest trend. Keep a prayer handy every time.

Happy Oldies Sunday! For today’s selection, we’re gonna give you a rare cut. Many are familiar with the selection, while there are others who will hear it for the first time. Today, we go back in time to check out Michael Palmer’s “Dem A Lick Shot“!

Produced by G. Nicholson and O. Brown and released through Tasha Records in 1984, this is the original version of Michael Palmer’s successful “Dem A Lick Shot” that was produced by George Phang, and released in the same year through the Power House label on the “Mad Mad Riddim“. On the original, Michael shares his experience of being a victim of robbery in his community, and getting help from the authouritives proved to be futile. It all happened in his hometown, but things have to change. The original version of “Dem A Lick Shot” gained positive feedback from listeners when it was released, but soon made way for the George Phang version as it was featured on Palmer’s album of the same name.

Since the release of “Dem A Lick Shot”, Michael Palmer went on to release more music over the years, but sadly had vocal problems, and diverted into production for some time before taking a 20 year hiatus. He returned in the late 2010s, and stays active through performances and recordings. While many celebrate the George Phang version of “Dem A Lick Shot”, there are still those who appreciate the original.

Koffee continues to make her presence be felt Internationally, securing even more prime real estate in the soundtracks of many listeners around the world. Last year saw her release her GRAMMY-nominated debut album, “Gifted“, and she’s going for even more this year. After months of speculation, Koffee teamed up with GRAMMY-winning Recording Artist Sam Smith on the new single, “Gimme“!

Produced by Anju Blaxx, StarGate, Jimmy Napes, and Sam Smith, “Gimme” also features Canadian Recording Artist Jessie Reyez, and it’s uptempo poppy single that has Dancehall sprinkled throughout. The song encourages good times, and the Artists definitely had fun recording this one. The Music Video accompanying the track finds each Artist being themselves as they all turn up the vibe at an underground party. The visual doesn’t hold back on the vibe, and the good time is shared equally with everyone involved. Koffee further seals her position as an International Artist, and may just be a taste of what’s to come from her this year. “Gimme” will be included on Sam Smith’s upcoming “Gloria” album later this month.

Life is the greatest thing. Despite the troubles many of face daily, we give thanks for those days filled with joy and happiness. For Dancehall Artist Rygin King, he is grateful for every blessing. Still on the road to recovery from an incident that left him paralyzed, he is motivating and inspiring people through his music and various pieces of content. 2022 saw him release the album “Therapy“, and he’s still pressing on with it. Earlier today, he released the visual for the track, “Maddest Life“.

Directed by JayBadz a.k.a. DirectorBadz, Rygin King is content and grateful with the position he is in life currently. Though he has seen some dark days, being able to overcome them with a positive outlook and a support system, we believe Rygin will become stronger than ever. The video finds him partying it up with friends, and showing that he doing better everyday. “Maddest Life” is track 10 off the “Therapy” album, and was produced by Rygin Trap Records.
