In January, Entertainment platform The Fix celebrated their 10th year anniversary. In December, they sought to end the year in a major way. Fans of the platform witnessed the team of Naro, Ari, Javi, and Jervis secure major Interviews and Jamaican Pop Culture moments, but this one is historic. On Monday, December 23, they premiered their Vybz Kartel Interview.

Since his release in July, Vybz Kartel has been in-demand for Interviews, appearances, and new music, and he has delivered since then. What many anticipated however, was if he was going to be one of the Artists to finally appear on The Fix. Throughout the year, the cast made pleas and requests for him to appear on the set, and now it’s finally here. The Interview spoke about the Deejay’s experience while incarcerated, his fight for freedom, life outside of Prison, his love life, family, thoughts on some of his peers, his upcoming “Freedom Street” Concert, and much more. Congrats to The Fix. Tune in!

OLDIES SUNDAY (Christmas): Fab 5 – Christmas Breeze A Blow

Have you been feeling the Christmas spirit? If you haven’t, you have been feeling the change the temperatures though. With Christmas Day in a couple days, we give you another “Oldies Sunday” selection to enjoy till then. We go back in time to check out the legendary Fab 5 Band, and their track, “Christmas Breeze A Blow“.

The self-produced track was featured on the “A Jamaican Christmas Gift” album, and it finds Fab 5 celebrating the start of the Christmas season. They share some of the many features of the season in Jamaica especially the “Christmas Breeze” and the birth of Jesus, and they boast about Jamaica’s absence of snow. It’s a merry time, and money or no money, everyone is having fun during the holidays. “Christmas Breeze A Blow” is one of Fab 5’s top Christmas songs, and has been included in many holiday Playlists. Some will say it’s not Christmas if there isn’t a Fab 5 song playing. We wish you all a Merry Christmas when it comes, may the day be one filled with good times with those you love. It’s a bonununous Christmas!

Reggae/Dancehall Artist Yaksta has been consistent all year, and from new music to live performances, he always delivers. With the year coming to a close, he’s ensuring that the people get something more to enjoy. With that said, he released the Music Video for the single, “Gelato & Booze“.

Directed by Divine Global Production and featuring Dancehall Artist Jahshii, Yaksta celebrates good times, and promotes unity with “Gelato & Booze”. The video finds the Artists enjoying life with the ladies, interacting with their people in various locations, and share that life is great with the right things and people in it. The collaboration was produced by Young G’s Records, and no negative energy could stop this one from happening. There has been a lot going on in Jamaica in the past couple of weeks, but we hope that for 2025 there is a lot more unity, and positive interactions. Celebrate life, and let the consciousness buss inna dem eardrum!

Jquan Brings Out The Marching Band For “Fe Fi Foe”

It’s the last Friday before Christmas, and of course the parties are gonna be lively. A lot of music is gonna be played, and you can expect a couple from Dancehall Artist Jquan to be in the mix. The Deejay looks to end the year in a big way, and earlier he shared the Music Video for the new single, “Fe Fi Foe“.

Directed by Kreative Klique, Jquan brings out the Marching Band, a few ladies, vibes, and a nice ride for the video for “Fe Fi Foe”. The Deejay takes over some production by DJ Mac/1 Villain Records/Circa Eleven, for a song that has been gaining steam ever since it was previewed a few weeks ago. Jquan can be found performing with his troupe throughout, and even performing a few stunts with a Nissan Silvia S15, and just like the song, you’re gonna keep this video on repeat. Ready for a fun party weekend before Christmas day? Make sure you keep “Fe Fi Foe” in heavy rotation.

Dancehall Artist Vanessa Bling had the Jamaican music scene in a chokehold with her singles over the years. While she may not be as prominent locally as before, she is doing damage overseas thanks her live performances. She aims to flood the streets with new music, but before that, she wants to make statements. Recently, she made the big step with the release of the “Truly Gifted Riddim“.

Released through Vanessa Bling’s VB Records, the “Truly Gifted Riddim” boasts an All-Female lineup for a compilation that will have the people talking. Bling dives into the world of Music Production, and calls on Tifa, Pamputtae, D’Angel, Marcy Chin, and Suspense to join her in the new takeover. The ladies brought their A-game on the new Riddim, and they show a unity that’s not always present in the Dancehall scene. With a new Riddim comes promotion, and Bling and company plan to take it on the road with a series of live performances, with dates and locations to be shared in the future. The “Truly Gifted Riddim” looks to take its place as an important production like “Gal Click Riddim“, which was produced by Spice and released in 2013. Let’s see what 2025 has in store for more Female-lead productions.

Charly Black Promoted Unity With Star-Studded “One Chance” Festival In Manchester

On Saturday December 14, the Parish of Manchester was treated to a night of great performances thanks to the first staging of the “One Chance” Music Festival. Hosted by Dancehall Artist Charly Black, DJ Marvin, and Unstoppable Entertainment and held at the parking lot of Toast Restaurant & Gelato, the “One Chance” Music Festival was made to promote unity in Jamaican music and society, bring together a number of established and rising stars, and bring more specialized entertainment events in Manchester. Despite the late start for performances, patrons were treated to the selections from the likes of Bass Odyssey, DJ Sherlock, and ZJ Liquid, and those who needed something extra could grab a soup, boxed food, and a beverage of their choice nearby.

When it was time for the performances, the early segment gave way to a number of Mandeville-based Reggae/Dancehall Artists on the rise who displayed some of their best work. It was then followed by performances by the Tower Band who provided musical backing for Charly Black, who soon after brought on stage Yaksta, Yaadcore, Neeqah, Denyque, and X-Kappe, who brought along a number of his Artists. The first staging of the “One Chance” Music Festival showed that Music Festival deserves to be held in the Parish, and we look forward to a bigger, better event in 2025.
