He’s making his list, and checking it twice, and if you are a bad gyal, he’s putting you on the naughty list. No this is not Santa Claus, but instead Dancehall Artist Pablo YG as he takes on the role for the holidays. While he may not ride a Sleigh with Reindeers, he’s riding around in a flashy ride recruiting the sexy ladies in the video for the track, “Naughty List“.

Directed by Damaniac Visualz, Pablo YG has a present for all the bad gyal dem in “Naughty List”. If you fit his criteria, then you can roll with him, become one of his Elves, and have a merry good time. The Deejay has been securing hits all year, and it’s no different here as he tackles production by 23 Recordz and YGF Records. With Grand Market a.k.a. Christmas Eve literally around the corner, a few of the Deejay’s tracks will be ringing out at the big events. Ladies, are you on the Bad Juvi’s naughty list?

It’s that time of year where some are looking to cash in all their good deeds for the year so they can get some great gifts, while others are dreaming about the feast they will have with family and friends. It’s Christmas time on Oldies Sunday. For today’s selection, we head on over to the Island of Barbados for The Draytons Two’s “Things Of Christmas“.

Written by Bunny Alleyne, “Things Of Christmas” was released through Trex Records in 1973. It is a Spouge track performed by The Draytons Two about some of the things that are synonymous with Christmas time. From the food, to the gifts, to the fellowship, to the activities that happen during, to that special feeling you get during the holidays, the duo delivered the track well with great harmonies over solid production. “Things Of Christmas” became a popular track, and would get played during the holidays. It’s that time of year when Ham is being sold for record-high prices, and crates of Sodas and Beers are being ordered. It’s Christmas time on Oldies Sunday. In Trinidad and Tobago, Parang is recognized (this year celebrates 45 years of Soca Parang), and for today’s selection, we go there to check out Scrunter’s “De Parang Now Start“.

Produced by Earl Crosby and released through JW Production, Scrunter celebrates the Christmas season in “De Parang Now Start”. Backed by great production, Scrunter shares lyrics about what Christmas time means to him, what is expected during the season, and invites everyone to partake and have fun. This track will have you dancing throughout, and if this doesn’t give you fond thoughts, you’re not listening hard enough. “De Parang Now Start” quickly became a popular track, and was featured on the compilation album, “A Decade Of Scrunter: De Parang Now Start“.

Scrunter is still active in music, and has been hailed as the “King Of Soca Parang“. It was rumoured last year of his passing, but he is still making his rounds, and showing up for Parang. Stay tuned to this platform for another holiday offering on Oldies Sunday!

It’s that time of year where those who live where it snows long for warmer temperatures, and businesses look to make the most money they’ve made all year. It’s Christmas time on Oldies Sunday. For today’s selection, we go back to the 80s to check out Anthony Selassie’s “Rub-A-Dub Christmas“.

Produced by Sugar Minott and released through Youth Promotion in 1989, “Rub-A-Dub Christmas” was all about the parties, the unity, the love, and the immense vibes during the holiday season. Anthony Selassie borrows the classic “Tis The Season” melody, and delivers a version that everyone got along with. If your Bank account was low, it didn’t matter because everyone felt irie when this one played. “Rub-A-Dub Christmas” was featured on the “Christmas Jamboree” compilation that featured Sugar Minott and a few of his friends, and was released through Youth Promotion. Roll up some Collie Weed, and boogie down with your partner to this one.

Since the release of “Rub-A-Dub Christmas”, Anthony Selassie continued to have an active music career with his latest release being earlier this year. “Rub-A-Dub Christmas” still gets played around the world, along with many other Christmas-themed songs.

While some may have done away with the gifts and matching PJs, it’s time for a lil music. While you sip on the Sorrel, tune into Oldies Sunday to hear Johnny Osbourne’s “Christmas Stylee“!

Produced by Sir Coxsone Dodd and released through Studio One in 1980, Johnny Osbourne gives us a special selection that gets listeners excited for the Christmas season. Paired with great production and performed with The Family Group, Osbourne shares the news of the birth of King Jesus, and gets us all into the groove. You couldn’t help but dance and singalong to this track, and it became an instant favourite for many. “Christmas Stylee” was featured on the “Sir Coxsone’s Family Album: Christmas Stylee” Compilation Album and “Reggae Christmas From Studio One“, and are just some of the many Jamaican Christmas compilations that have been released over the years.
