Vybz Kartel, despite his current situation, showed us that he had a serious work ethic with the slew of new songs that are being released. With a single on DJ Sunshine’s “Wul Dem Riddim” comes “Nuh Play Roun Wid Fire“. Here the Gaza boss proclaims that he and his crew are nothing to be messed with and like the car Tyre, they run the streets. At this rate, will there be anymore songs to keep the fans happy over the next few years? Or will there be means and ways to make new recordings? Special shout out to Dancehall World on this release. With his name being spread to a larger audience and a debut album on the way, Popcaan has come a long way from being a former member of Vybz Kartel’s Portmore Empire. Tonight he had a chat with Winford Williams about the things that are going on in his life. Here he spoke about his former boss’ guilty verdict and sentencing, gaining popularity overseas and his experiences, staying away from conflicts and being a big part of his family, his debut album “Where We Come From“, and his upcoming performance in Jamaica. Winford Williams also gave Popcaan some words of encouragement in the end and I also liked how he spoke about his little brother’s progress. After hitting hard with their collab “Straight Jeans and Fitted“, Vybz Kartel and Rvssian team up for a new single. Titled “Yellow Yellow“, we hear lyrics about getting fresh gear and jewelry, and having all the girls go crazy over them anywhere they go. This tag team may have done it again, the only problem is that Kartel won’t be around to perform it live with Rvssian. Sounding like it could be big for the summer, check out the track below and share your thoughts in the comments section.
Another day, another new Vybz Kartel single pops up, and we’re not mad at that! Titled “Downtown Kingston“, Kartel gives us the day to day happenings and what you can get in Downtown, Kingston. From beauty products to food to clothing, Downtown has it all. I love this single as it sounds like it could be Downtown’s theme song. You can never deny that Vybz Kartel is a lyricist and made a song for anything. If only Kartel didn’t get caught up in crime. While many prepare for the day’s activities on Labor Day, some are “laboring” as we speak. Tonight, a new Vybz Kartel single may just be the spark to help out with tonight’s “toil“. Titled “Tun Back Way” and produced by Markus Records on the “Sex Mate Riddim“, we hear Vybz speaking on how he wants his lady to entice him and thrill him with various moves. Just when people thought there was an end, more Kartel songs keep popping up. I’m not mad at that. Check out the track below and share your thoughts in the comments section.
