Recently, the “Unruly Boss” Popcaan announced his second album, “Forever“. With a Summer 2018 release, he wants to kick things off early with the 1st single titled, “Body So Good“. Produced by Dre Skull and featuring a nice Dancehall sample, Popcaan caters to the ladies on this one as he can’t help admiring his lady despite all the fall outs with her. Ladies will blush when they hear, “But me still love when yuh wine up yuh feisty self…“. “Forever SZN” is in full effect, add a “Woiyoii” to your day with this one. What happens when the “Unruly Boss” meets Benji? Earlier this year, Popcaan released his “Tight P**** Wine” single but today Producer BNJMN flips it his way on “Poppy“. Here, Popcaan hits the purple stuff and changes tempo while BNJMN parks the Notnice Production aside as he adds his signature sound to the raunchy single. BNJMN has been pretty busy lately as his Production has graced various projects overseas, and we all know what Popcaan’s been up to as of late (lol). An Interesting take on the Dancehall track, and still an enjoyable listen. I’d recommend you play both versions one after the other. Keep an ear out for the “B*mbocl*** Benji” drops later this year but for now, check out the track below and share your thoughts in the comments section.
Over the weekend, the “Unruly Boss” Popcaan made a guest appearance on Drake’s “OVO Sound Radio“. The nearly 3 hour long Programme also featured two sets from host Oliver El-Khatib as he mixed new music from popular and emerging Artists in Hip Hop. Popcaan’s Dancehall set however featured some of his old and new singles including “Ova Dweet“, “Unruly Prayer“, “World Cup“, “Fall In Love“, “Wicked Man Ting“, his collaborations including Aluna George’s “I’m In Control“, “Bad A Road” featuring Kiprich and Jah Son, the remix to Drake’s “Controlla“, Dosa Medicine’s “Badman“, and of course the now infamous “One Dance” Dubplate used at the recently held Red Bull Culture Clash. Listeners who were not fully familiar with Popcaan were treated to a crash course of sorts while fans raved as they heard their favourite Artist’s songs on the very popular show. While he celebrated another year on earth yesterday, what will the new year reveal for Poppy? Check out the guest mix below and share your thoughts in the comments section.
Dancehall Artist Popcaan has been in demand ever since he dabbled in the International music playground. With tunes with Pusha T, Young Thug, Cardi B, and an appearance on Drake’s “If You’re Reading This…” to name a few, he now joins London Electronic Music duo AlunaGeorge on “I’m In Control“. AlunaGeorge, who are still riding high off their DJ Snake assisted “You Know You Like It“, dropped this as the first single to their upcoming “I Remember” album which is set to be released this Spring. With AlunaGeorge’s upcoming appearance at the Paradise Lost EDM Festival in March, will this be a part of their set? Check out the track below and share your thoughts in the comments section.
After blazing the airwaves and the streets for months, there is finally a visual for Jamie XX, Young Thug and Popcaan’s “Good Times (I Know There’s Gonna Be)“. Directed by Rollo Jackson, we see Jamie getting the crowd hype with the single in one location, Young Thug vibing in another, and Popcaan chilling on a balcony. Nice visual, while I like the placements of “Good Times“, I was disappointed in not hearing Popcaan’s verse in this. What I’ve found out recently is that this single has been featured in the soundtrack of NBA Live 16 so big ups to the “Unruly Boss” on the achievement. Here to “fix tings” is Dancehall artist Popcaan with his visual for “Way Up“.
